“Do you have the supplies you need?” Isaiah said to Jelani.

“Yes, but—”

“Go get them.”

The man frowned. “Please think about this.”

“I don’t need to. This is the right thing to do.” Isaiah started unbuttoning his shirt.

“I can’t use any kind of anesthesia. And you don’t have your wolf.” Jelani said it like a plea.

“I’m well aware.” Isaiah had seen his father donate a few times, and it had never been pretty. But the Fenrir had taken away the agony, and he’d been able to lie still.

Sedation had never been an option for the risk of contaminating the Rakta and rendering it useless.

“The pain alone will put you in shock.”

“Then make sure to bring the triage kit.” Traveling on the road meant carrying everything they might need in case of an emergency.

“What you’re asking me to do could kill you.”

“Better me than Luca.”

Both Cassie and Jelani had tears in their eyes.

“Isaiah. Please don’t make me—”

He cut Jelani off with a look. “I’m not asking your permission. I’m making a decision.” Isaiah nodded at the door. “Go get your supplies. Cassie, go get Tanner. I’m going to need someone to hold me down.”
