“Guy was older than dirt, so I don’t think he cared. But Koda made him stop.”
“Do I want to know how?”
“Two words. Chocolate Habaneros.”
“Ouch.”
“Guy was a wimp. I could eat an entire box of those on my own in one sitting.”
Nox breathed deep. “Okay, what do you want me to do? And don’t say chocolate Habaneros because I do good to eat regular Tabasco.”
One day Luca would change that, but not today. “Hand me the lubricant.”
Nox retrieved it from the edge of the bed.
“Tell it to look. Since it’s something it’s seen and used before, it should have some idea why you use it.”
Nox turned the bottle over in hand. “That was me, Luca, not it. Just enough of me to get it to take the time and slick you up.”
“And that’s what you’re going to do now.”
“I can’t.” Nox’s statement was almost a whisper.
“Why?”
“Because there’s less of me and more of it.” Nox started to set down the bottle.
Luca stopped him. “Then explainwhyit needs it.”
“Are you going to make me say this out loud? Because it’s going to get really embarrassing.” He squirted a generous amount onto his fingers.
“I should, but you’re right. That’s worse than my attempt at dirty talk. But I want you to tell me what you think it’s saying to you.”
Nox grimaced. “That might be even worse.”
“Do it anyway.”
Nox stared at the lubricant in his hand.
“Well?”
“Nothing.”
“Interpretation, remember?”
“There’s nothing to interpret. It’s just not… responding.”
Of course it wasn’t. But Luca knew exactly what would get its attention. He propped one ankle on Nox's shoulders and folded his other one to his chest, spreading himself.
Nox’s face twisted up.
“Now you’re interested, huh?” Luca tilted his foot and stuck the tip of his big toe in Nox’s ear. “You’re supposed to be talking to me.”
Nox furrowed his brow. “It doesn’t like it.”
“What? My toe in your ear?” Luca did it again.
“Stop that. This is your idea, remember?” He kissed Luca’s ankle, then scraped his teeth over the bone. The Anubis flashed in Nox’s gaze before retreating.
