Frost cut the scientist’s yell with a hand over the man’s mouth.

Johnathan said, “Be careful he—”

Frost grit his teeth.

“Bites.” Johnathan gave the man an apologetic shrug.

“I vote we knock him out,” Frost said.

Dr. Dante kicked and bucked in his grip.

“Seung would kill us both.”

“He’s going to kill himself when he causes me to run off the road.” Frost headed back to the truck with Dr. Dante in tow, scratching, elbowing, punching.

Johnathan followed.

“Will the two of you quit roughing him up?” Seung met them at the bumper.

Frost made a face. “I’m the one with the nosebleed, not him.”

She huffed. “Whatever, you can let him go now.”

“Seriously?”

While there was no flash of the wolf in her eyes, they still burned in anger. “Put him down, Frost. Now.”

“I really don’t think—”

“That wasn’t a request.”

“Fine, he runs, you get to chase him.” Frost released his hold, and Dr. Dante hit the ground. Terror twisted his expression, and he shoved himself back until the truck bumper stopped him.

Even sitting there on the ground, face smeared in blood, cuts, and scratches covering every bit of exposed skin, he was perfect. Tall, lean, brown curly hair and green eyes, and a scattering of freckles dark enough to be chocolate against his pale complexion.

Were they only on his face, or did he have them lower?

“You’re dead. I know you are. I know… I know…” Panic cracked Dr. Dante’s voice and showered Johnathan in ice.

He took a step back.

Seung inclined her head. “Both of you. Go get in the truck.”

“Yeah, sure.” It was better than being stared at like he was a monster.

Johnathan kept his head down as he climbed into the passenger side.

Frost got behind the wheel. “Seems like Paul was right.”

Johnathan shut the door. “Yeah, it does.”

“Not only that, he’s ripe.”

Johnathan examined the nonexistent bite wound on his hand. “None of us have ever smelled an Urja. How would you know?”

Frost glanced at Johnathan’s crotch.

His half-hard dick made an outline under the fabric. “He ran. What do you expect?” Not Johnathan’s fault his instincts took a wrong turn. “Doesn’t prove anything.”
