When Mia opens the door,she looks up at me with tears shimmering in her eyes. God, she looks so beautiful, even when she's crying. It's all I can do not to pull her into my arms and kiss her tears away.
"Mind if I come in?"I ask gruffly.

She cuts me off by holding up a hand."If you came here to smooth things over between Jeremy and me, just don't."

She lets out a humorless laugh. "Of course, I am. Why wouldn't I be okay? My brother doesn't believe in me. Big deal. He never has. He thinks I'm stupid, silly, flighty little Mia."
"But you're not," I finish for her. "You're all grown up, and Jeremy needs to stop babying you."
