Daylen spoke up, winded from his run to me. “Yes, they were still alive when we left. I don’t know if they will spare them if we attack them.”

Sighing, I rubbed the back of my neck, trying to figure out what I should do. My pack was starving, and I realized they wouldn’t be able to make it in another battle so soon. “Nolen, I have your back, man. We will take back the Rhyolite pack together like we always do. We are allies, and you’re practically my brother. I would do anything for you and your pack.”

“Thank you, Sawyer. That means a lot to me.”

“No question, brother! You mean a lot to us, and we will always be your allies.”

The scent of moonflowers invaded my senses, and I began to search for her, knowing she was somewhere close. That’s when I spotted her helping another wolf out of the woods; blood covered her perfect body and matted her hair. Her head snapped up, and her beautiful amber eyes locked with mine.

“Mate!”

Chapter Twenty: Firsts

Amora

After the battle ended, Kulai became frantic, pacing in my head. As I was helping an injured wolf out of the woods, I noticed the most intoxicating scent ever to reach my nose. I looked up, and my eyes locked with his familiar deep blue ones. My heart raced as I stood staring at the person I had wanted the most since I was a young girl.

“Mate!” Kulai was ecstatic in my head. I couldn’t believe he was here after all this time! He was a little leaner than the last time I saw him, but, damn, he was still just as gorgeous!

Helping the injured wolf down to the ground near the other injured wolves, I finally ran to him. I didn’t see anyone but him and his handsome smile. Colliding into him, his arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer than I’d ever been against him.

Breaking the embrace, I glanced up at him. I couldn’t believe this male, this alpha, was mine! The male I had been dreaming of was mine!

“Mate.” My voice came out as a whisper, but Nolen grinned anyway. His hand came up to my face and gently caressed my cheek. He was being so gentle with me when all I wanted him to do was take me to my room, mate me, and possibly mark me. Placing one hand on his and the other on his chest, he shivered. The electricity between us intensified. “Nolen, it’s you, and you’re mine.”

“Yes. Always have been.” His voice was a deep baritone, and his eyes flickered between his deep blues and his wolf’s soft golden color.

“Why didn’t you tell me? You knew, and you didn’t tell me.” It hurt that he’d kept it a secret from me. Did he not want me? Did he not think I was worthy?

“I wanted to, but I had to keep it from you until you sensed it as well. There is a law about younger mates that forbade me from telling you. I told my parents about you, and I assumed they told your parents.” His other hand went to the other side of my face. I wanted Nolen so bad, and I could tell he wanted me too. The pupils of his eyes had widened, and they changed to his wolf’s every few seconds.

“Then make up for it! Take me! I don’t care where, just take me!” I grabbed hold of the back of his hair, pulling his body back against mine. His eyes cut to the right side of him, then back to me. Nolen’s heart raced underneath his ribcage bounding against my chest.

“I want to, but I don’t want you to be in pain if I die. I won’t do that to you.” Nolen tried to kiss me, but I pulled away and shook my head. He wasn’t going to get off that easy.

“No, you will not go off to fight Wade without taking me first. I won’t let you go if you don’t.” Kulai agreed with me as she lay there on her side in my head, her tail beating against the ground. I stared at him in his eyes, the ones I always became lost in.

“Amora.” His eyes held a mixture of emotion in them. I knew he was trying to make an excuse to not take me when I knew he wanted me just as bad as I wanted him.

“No, you won’t leave. I won’t let you! You will not leave till you make me all yours!” I realized I was being a child in the way that I spoke to him. But I couldn’t let him go when I just got him back.

Nolen glanced over to his right again, and I realized he was looking to Sawyer on what to do. I saw Sawyer shrug out of my peripheral before Nolen brought his gaze back to mine. “Okay, but I have to take care of my pack that is here first. Then I’m all yours.”

Nodding, I took a step back until he pulled me back into him and pressed a punishing kiss to my lips, which made me light-headed when he pulled away and grabbed ahold of my earlobe. “Go get cleaned up, and I’ll be up shortly. If you stand here one more second, I might get jealous that other males are seeing what’s mine.”

Blushing at the thought of both him taking me and realizing I was still naked, I took off to the packhouse. Sawyer’s laughter rang out behind me. Taking a chance, I glanced back at Nolen, whose lust-filled gaze stared back at me, making sure I went into the packhouse.

My heart raced as I jumped in the shower. I was nervous about what was to come, but I was so ready! Nolen was mine. The Goddess must have heard my insistent pleas. The door to my room opened and his scent carried through the air to me.

His soft footsteps became more evident the closer he got to the bathroom. I opened the shower door to peek out and saw him standing in the doorway. He was still covered in blood. “Are you going to come in or are you just going to stand there?”

My gaze roamed his body, taking in every movement of his muscles as he strolled toward me. Before today, I had never exactly stared at a naked man before, but none would compare to him. As he stepped inside the shower, his proximity gave me goosebumps. The water fell against his hard body, rinsing some of the blood and dirt from his skin. “Nolen, let me wash you?”

Nolen nodded, his eyes never leaving mine as I grabbed my loofah and pumped the soap from the bottle on it. I began to rub him down, lathering his skin with the soap. His moans brought my eyes back to his face, he leaned his head back, and his eyes were half-mast. “Does this feel good?”

Nolen’s eyes flew open at the sound of my voice, and I thought I heard a rumble come from him. He stepped back into the cascading water, the bubbles running down his now clean body. He placed both his hands on the sides of my face. “You are so beautiful!”

“Are you nervous?” We hadn’t gotten out of the shower, and I didn’t know what he was thinking. Nolen grinned and then shook his head.
