Dr. Schmeidler looked down at the floor for a moment before saying, “You’re a pretty smart man, Logan. For an FBI agent.” She grinned.

“And you’re pretty smart for a doctor,” he said with a smile.

“You keep improving and I’m going to send you home sooner than later.” Her professional persona was back. “But you’ll need someone there with you.”

“My friend Monty is already prepared to stay with me for a few days.”

“Okay. I’ll stop by tomorrow and see how you’re doing. Then we’ll talk.”

“Thanks.”

She nodded, then walked out the door.

Logan picked up the phone and called Monty. After telling him about the possibility of going home soon, he also told him about getting his eyesight back. After Monty stopped whooping and hollering, he shared something about Jeff that made Logan’s eyes fill with tears for the second time that day.
