Cooper Madison heard the phone click on the other end before he could respond, and he wasn’t sure what had just happened. What he did know was that he had to get some groceries, and fast.

Going out to the grocery store at this time of day in the city wasn’t an option, so he called one of the only other people that he had formed a relationship with since moving to Cleveland: the Wescott’s concierge, Simon.

Simon’s sole duty was to make sure that the guests at the Wescott are happy, even if it means arranging for a specific grocery list to be purchased and delivered on a Friday afternoon. Especially if that guest is Cooper Madison.

Coop gave him a list of ingredients to make his father’s famous shrimp boil, which included gulf shrimp, corn on the cob, Andouille sausage, onions, and redskin potatoes. He already had plenty of Old Bay Seasoning, beer, and Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning, all of which were a must for any proper boil.

As usual, Simon came through and the goods were delivered to Coop’s door within 90 minutes, which gave him enough time to clean the place up a little and start prepping the meal.

Coop inspected the four pounds of gulf shrimp first to check for quality. He always lamented the fact that he had to pay $14 a pound for shrimp that were likely frozen and from China when he could get fresh gulf shrimp off the boats in Pass Christian for $2 a pound. Nonetheless, these would have to work.

Once the pot was filled with all of the delicious ingredients that reminded him of home, he turned up the heat and got dressed for his guest.

As he picked out a pair of jeans and a form fitting t-shirt, he still couldn’t quite wrap his head around what it was that led him to call the delivery girl up and invite her over. He had made a complete fool out of himself in front of her. Maybe it was the way she handled that whole situation? It had been a long time since he felt that comfortable that quickly with another person. Let alone an attractive young woman.

Across town, Cara had opted for the RTA bus as opposed to her scooter. She had actually styled her hair in something other than a ponytail for the first time in weeks and didn’t want to mess it up. She decided to dress casually in khaki shorts and a tank top, both of which showed off her tanned and toned body in a way that made the bus driver do a double take when she boarded.

As the bus made its way towards the Wescott Hotel, Cara started to feel the nervous pit in her stomach worsen. She also began to devise an escape plan if the evening wasn’t going well, or if she felt that all he wanted was sex. As attracted to him as she was, she wasn’t going to be added to the list of “Cleat Chasers” - girls who only try to hook up with professional athletes.

Once at her stop, Cara hopped off the bus and as it pulled away she stared up at the Wescott Hotel. She always loved delivering food there. It was elegant and beautiful and had an amazing view of Lake Erie. She never imagined that she would ever be visiting under these circumstances.
