He phoned the front desk and had Simon arrange for a cab to pick Cara up. They said it would be waiting for her in a few minutes.
Coop walked Cara to the elevator and pressed the button to call it to his floor.
“I want you to know that I had a really fun time today,” Cara said as the elevator made its way up.
“Despite everything?” Coop asked.
“Yes…”
“I did too… I hope you have fun tonight,” Coop said as he leaned in and kissed Cara softly on the lips.
The familiar sound of the Otis Birdcage elevator reaching its destination brought the kiss to an abrupt end.
“Call me later tonight?” Cara asked.
“Absolutely…”
