She pulled Coop’s chair away from the table and swung his legs towards where she was standing and straddled him.

“Well, they must not have had the right categories for you to answer,” Cara said as she leaned closer to his face.

“And what categories would those have been?” Coop said, playing along.

“Well, I’d say that last night you swept the board in anatomy…” Cara whispered, referring to the previous night’s activities. Her lips gently making contact with his ears as she spoke.

Just then Cara’s cell phone, which had been charging on the kitchen counter, sprang to life. The ringtone was sound clip of Eric Cartman saying, “God I hate you, Kenny,” from the television show South Park.

Coop gave Cara a quizzical look as she hopped up and ran over to the phone and pressed ignore on her phone.

“You have got to be kidding me!”

“Why didn’t you answer it?” Coop asked.

“Because I don’t ever want to talk to that asshole again,” Cara replied in an irritated tone.

“So, I’m assuming the ringtone wasn’t a coincidence and that was Kenny?”

“Yeah… I’m sorry, I should’ve changed it a long time ago. I really should just block his number.”

“You have nothing to apologize for. Besides, I love South Park.”

“I used to… but now just hearing the name Kenny makes me sick.”

“I can relate. I can’t watch the Miss America pageant anymore for the same reason…”

Cara gave him a look that said, “No you didn’t…”

“Okay, bad analogy… I’m sorry. I’ll just shut up now,” Coop declared, his hands up in surrender.

“Why did you break off your engagement with the beauty queen?” Cara asked.

“I didn’t… she did, not long after she moved out to LA hoping to make it as an actress. I guess she didn’t need me to boost her public image anymore. To be honest, I was glad. She was so high maintenance, but I didn’t realize just how much until we were done.”

“Oh… well, it was her loss.”

A notification buzzed on Cara’s phone indicating that she had a new voicemail. She sighed as she pressed play and raised her phone to her ear.

“Cara… it’s Kenny… I know you’re probably ignoring my call on purpose, but, uh, I was hoping we could talk. Give me a call...bye.”

Cara shook her head in disgust as she put the phone back on the counter.

“What’d he want?” Coop asked.

“He wants me to call him. He knows I’m mad and I’m sure he’s worried what I might say about him. I wish I could see the stupid look on his face when the interview airs tonight.”

“Are you going to call him back?”

“Hell. No.”

“Do you want me to call him for you?”

“Definitely not. He’s not worth our cell phone minutes. Besides, I can handle Kenny, and the best thing to do is ignore him because he hates that the most.”

Coop nodded in agreement before adding, “Well, I’ll respect your wishes this time, but I can’t promise I’ll be able to if he keeps calling.”

Cara made her way back over to Coop’s lap.

“I have a feeling Kenny won’t be an issue after tonight, but even if he is, he’s my issue to deal with. Not yours…” she said as her face came within inches of his.

“I just want to protect you…” Coop replied.

“And they say chivalry is dead…”

“Not where I come from...”

In one motion Coop stood up and lifted Cara, as well, and carried her down the hall towards his bedroom.
