“Are we sure Ashlyn wasn’t adopted?” I ask as I watch her pretend to whip Rowan.
Aspen threads her arm through mine. “Let’s go. It’s time for the inquisition.”
“Can we skip it? Maybe you can create a diversion.”
She ignores me. I knew she would. I wasn’t exactly helpful in distracting the town when they decided to play matchmaker with Lyric and Aspen. She should thank me. She’s bursting with happiness at being engaged to the man she’s been in love with since second grade.
I scan the area for anyone who can be of assistance and notice Cole slip out the side door. Lucky bastard.
