“Please tell me you’re not harassing him online.”

“Define harassing.”

Yep. She’s harassing Bob online. And you know what? I don’t have the energy to care.

“Ooooh.” Ashlyn rubs her hands together. “Do tell. Are you having dildos delivered to him?”

“Dildos? But he’s a heterosexual man and ….” Lilac cuts herself off when it dawns on her how embarrassing it would be for Bob to receive a dildo in the mail. “I’ll add it to my list. It’s better than sending him Hawaiian pizzas.”

“He hates pineapple.”

Lilac’s smile is downright evil. “Exactly.”

“I signed him up for Grindr.”

I gawk at Aspen. “You’re joking!”

She shrugs. “It’s nothing more than he deserves.”

“Has he had any matches?” Ashlyn asks.

“What do you do? Pose as him and then set him up on real life dates?” Juniper asks.

“What an excellent idea,” Aspen mumbles as she makes a note in her phone.

“Are you guys nuts? Bob is not worth going to jail for.”

“You need to get over your aversion to jail. It’s not so bad.”

I stare at my baby sister. “Exactly how many times have you gone to jail?”

“Let me check.” Lilac pulls out her phone. “I have a list.”

Ashlyn smacks the phone out of Lilac’s hand. “You have a list? Have you been spying on me?”

“It’s not spying when the information is freely available to the public.”

Aspen claps. “We’ve handled the Bob situation. Now, it’s your turn to give Cole a chance.”

I debate continuing to mislead them for a while but then a yawn hits me. I really am tired.

“Cole and I already talked. We’re going to get to know each other and work on becoming friends for the baby’s sake.” And hopefully, I won’t get my heart broken beyond repair when he departs Winter Falls for good.

“You have got to—” Ashlyn freezes. “Wait. Did you say you’re going to be friends with your baby daddy?”

“She did.” Aspen’s forehead scrunches as she studies me. “She didn’t say why she changed her mind, though.”

I shrug. “I thought about it and realized I don’t want to be at odds with the father of my child.”

“You’re a big, fat liar.”

I gasp at Aspen’s declaration. “How dare you?”

She wags a finger at me. “I have no doubt you spent some time thinking about it.”

Juniper snorts. “Someone’s an overthinker.” I glare at her. “What? This can’t be news to you.”

“Ahem. May I continue?” I motion for Aspen to get on with whatever she has to say. “There’s more to the story. You didn’t suddenly wake up one day and decide to stop avoiding Cole.”
