Ella

Just when Ithink my luck might be turning around, Rosa drops that bombshell on me. Or maybe I should take this as a sign that I’m making a mistake with Owen. I had let my slight buzz and Owen’s smooth dance moves lower my guard, which led to me practically humping Owen’s leg and agreeing to…well, I don’t know what, but it certainly wasn’t going to include keeping our clothes on. Something I normally wouldn’t do after just meeting someone.

Hell, I haven’t even kissed him and I’m ready for him to have his way with me. At least I was ten seconds ago. That should have been the first clue I was being an idiot, but since I didn’t take the cue, I’m taking my flooded room as a hard stop to the Owen situation.

“I’m really sorry, Ms. Danes, but that’s not all,” Rosa says quietly.

“Is my stuff ruined, too?” I ask, stiffening my stance and stepping away from Owen.

She shakes her head. “I retrieved your bag and items before the water could reach any personal belongings, but due to the events of the week, our hotel is fully booked. We have no other rooms we can put you in, but we’re happy to help you find other accommodations and refund the cost of your stay.”

My throat burns from the frustration of this whole situation. I never should have come to Saint Lucia. I should have stayed home and wallowed like I wanted. Between the shit with Gavin, seeing Blake, whatever Owen is doing to me, and now a flooded room, I’ve found myself at a breaking point.

“Ella can stay in my room,” Owen says, and my head whips around so fast that I hear popping noises.

“Yeah, that’s no—” My words are cut off when my left side begins to vibrate. “I’ll be right back,” I say to Rosa before I pull my phone from the pocket of my dress and walk away. My swift steps take me back toward the edge of the rooftop, and I finally answer the incoming video chat.

“What’s wrong?” Piper asks.

“We should have gone with her,” Kenzie adds before I answer.

Seeing their beautiful faces nearly brings tears to my eyes.

“Everything was fine and then it just went to shit again,” I say.

Kenzie squints her eyes and leans closer to the screen. “Why are you wearing a dress that you didn’t pack? Is that music? Are you at a party?”

“Damn, Kenzie. We didn’t call to interrogate her,” Piper scolds, but I can see the curiosity in her appraising eyes.

I sigh and tilt the phone for a moment so they can see. “Yes, I’m wearing a dress and yes, I’m at a party, but I was just leaving when you called.”

“Why?” Piper asks.

“Well, that’s a little more complicated to answer.”

Kenzie smirks. “We’re not going anywhere.”

I move the phone until I can see Owen and Rosa on my screen. “See that man and woman standing in front of the elevator?” My friends nod. “Well, that’s the guy from the plane. The same one who saved me from Blake. The woman is my personal concierge who just came to tell me that my room flooded after I left and there are no other rooms available at the hotel. Owen was just offering to let me stay in his room when you called, but given I was ready to let him to have his way with me two minutes ago all because of his dance moves, I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“You’re right, Ella. That’s not a good idea,” Piper says, and Kenzie interrupts her.

“The hell it’s not.”

Piper raises a brow. “I wasn’t done speaking. It’s not a good idea because it’s a fan-fucking-tastic idea. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about you this week. You are always trying to make everyone else happy, Ella. It’s time for you to be selfish. If your first thought was to let that sexy man have his way with you because you wanted him to, then you damn well better allow that to happen.”

Kenzie and I both gape at Piper. For her to be the one telling me to live a little and follow my wants… Well, it has me actually reconsidering the refusal I was in the middle of giving Owen. Mostly because if his dance moves can turn me on, I can only imagine what his bedroom skills will do to me.

Maybe it wouldn’t be so terrible to be forced into his room. To consider him a one-week-stand.

“Get wild with the delicious businessman, Ella. He can be your rebound. Go bounce your big titties off his face and see what happens.” Kenzie jiggles her boobs for emphasis.

My skin turns ten shades of red, and I glance around. Only the bartender is close enough to hear, but he doesn’t look my way. Thank fuck. Still, I turn the volume further down.

Kenzie and Piper are making great points. I don’t even know where Owen is from, but given I’ve never seen him around Charlotte, I doubt that has to change after this week. I could let loose and let what happens in Saint Lucia stay in Saint Lucia.

We did tell Blake we were engaged. If I run into my ex again, this would help keep the story going without making me look like an idiot as well. The more I allow myself to see the positives of this situation, the more resolved I am to listen to my friends and my libido, which has been cheering for Owen all damn day.

“Do you see those wheels turning, Pipe? She’s totally going to get laid tonight,” Kenzie says.
