I didn’t argue when Colton grabbed the check. Walking out, I realized that either Max hadn’t seen us or didn’t want to bother us.

The evening was warm, the sidewalks filled with locals and tourists enjoying the night. My apartment was only a few buildings down from Max’s, and we were at my door before I was ready.

I turned to face him, feeling awkward. “Thanks for coming to yoga with me and for taking me out to dinner.”

“It was fun.” He stepped into my space, leaning down.

I thought he was going to kiss me, so I closed my eyes, swaying in his direction. When his lips grazed my cheek, my eyelids popped open.

“Good night, Remi.”

My name was smooth on his lips.

“Night, Colton.” I turned to unlock my door, wishing I’d asked him up. But I wasn’t sure what he wanted; was it just friendship or something more?
