CHAPTER FOUR

Nathan

In my perspective, the fact that she had plush animals all over her house, as well as puzzles scattered everywhere on the floor, made her even more appealing. This was how a Little should live, and I was amazed by how successfully she had adopted the Little way of life. It was almost as if she was born to be a model.

When she was finally ready to leave, she emerged from the bathroom, and I got a better look at her than I had when I originally entered. She looked similar to the day before when I saved her life, but she looked even more beautiful than ever. I wasn't sure if it was because I was looking at her through rose colored glasses due to the atmosphere of the apartment, but I didn't care because I couldn't believe she had agreed to give me a chance and we were on our way to our first date.

As soon as we got to the car, she discovered my Disney playlist, which I had saved on my phone for exactly such an occasion. As I drove, a smile formed across her face, prompting her to grin from ear to ear as she chose her favorite song from her favorite movie and began to sing along. Everything about her improved, and the fact that she wasn't afraid to be herself around me made her even more beautiful. By the time we arrived at the cafe where we had arranged to eat, she had already sung three different Disney songs and was still bouncing up and down in her seat, eager to get inside.

"I love this place!" she shouted as she unbuckled her seat belt. "Do you think I'll be able to have the chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream on top?" I nodded in return, laughing, as I followed her out of the car and across the parking lot to the diner's front door.

"Of course, Little One," I said as I opened the door. "You may have whatever you choose, and I will pay for it." She clapped her hands together as she followed me into the diner, and she refused to sit still after we were seated.

It looked like all she could think about at this precise moment was the chocolate chip pancakes she had her heart set on, and I would have been the worst person in the world if I had said no at that precise moment when the waitress walked up and announced that the chocolate chips were extra. Georgia seemed concerned as she turned to face me, so I assured the waitress it was no problem at all and to get her the chocolate chips in her pancakes as soon as possible. Georgia turned to face me as soon as the waitress left.

"If you don't mind my asking, what made you decide to invite me out?" she inquired, her face lovely. I couldn't help but laugh at how bewildered she was, and I couldn't help but think that, despite everything that had just happened, it was incredibly unusual of her.

"Because you're the only Little who didn't demand attention and then act like a brat when she didn't receive it," I joked as I added sugar to my coffee. When I saw the look on her face, I realized I had made a terrible mistake and shook my head, condemning myself for being so careless. "I apologize. That was a terrible joke." She shook her head in answer, much to my amazement.

"I didn't even understand it was a joke," she admitted, looking up at me sheepishly. "I assumed you were dead serious, especially after the way everyone began acting when I was brought inside." For the first time since we met, I grasped what she meant till I turned my head to the side, thoroughly observing her.

As bad as the Littles had been trying to get the Daddies' attention the day before, I had never considered that they would mistreat Georgia because she was getting all the attention. It wasn't Georgia's fault that she had almost been hit by the vehicle, and after seeing how the Littles had treated the Daddies for not paying attention to them, I can only imagine how they had treated her.

I was so preoccupied with the concept that I didn't notice that I had accidentally smashed one of the creamer glasses I was attempting to pour into my coffee. I blushed with embarrassment as soon as I spotted the mess and picked up the napkin to cover it up.

"I'm sorry," I said as I noticed some of the creamer had gone on her sweater. "If you like, I can help you get that cleaned." Much to my astonishment, she chuckled and shook her head in response to my question.

"I'll be OK," she told me as she picked up a napkin and began wiping off the sweater she had been wearing. She looked up at me, smiling with joy at what she had accomplished, as soon as the creamer was gone. "There will be no more shambles." We both burst out laughing, and neither of us could stop until the waitress finally brought us our order.

Over the next few minutes, we talked about everything we hoped to achieve in life, and I learned a lot about her. It turned out that Georgia enjoyed working with children and had aspirations of becoming an elementary school teacher at one point. She never finished the stream, though, and instead began working as a librarian at the local library. It appeared to be a step down from the teacher position she wanted, but she didn't seem to mind, especially since she was surrounded by books and children.

Meanwhile, she seemed really interested in everything I was doing, and I informed her that I had been working at the sheriff's department for well over five years. She appeared perplexed by the fact that I had arrived to the sheriff station later than the rest of the policemen who had attended the gathering the day before, but when I explained that I had been busy traveling the world, she became ecstatic.

"Do you believe we'll be able to tour the world together one day?" she inquired, and I couldn't help but smile at how eager she had become after a little minute of thought, I shrugged in response.

"I don't see why not," I said after a while. "However, let's go on a couple more dates first before we decide on something like that."
