CHAPTER26

Loving Ronan’s attention, though he had no reason to be concerned. Calista leaned back on her palms to meet his gaze. “Don’t say that.”

Ronan kissed her lightly. “Say you prefer me.”

“You know I do.” Calista didn’t have the experience to know what his possessiveness meant. He only wanted temporary, right? She didn’t have the nerve to ask for more. If she could channel her sister, she’d tease him about limited time, but that wasn’t her.

“Tell me to go.” Ronan nudged her knees wider and moved straight between them, pressing himself against her core.

Calista’s eyes flared at the sexy move. The feel of his hips on her inner thighs, his sex against hers, warmed and sent sparkling sensations from her core outwards, and then they spiraled and double-backed. He had to be feeling this. She tightened her muscles and crossed her legs around him. “I’ll never tell you to go.”

Ronan groaned. “Time for desire then?” He leaned forward, licked her neck, and sucked. “Come back to my place.” His demand was draped in a request. “Keep me company, while I pack for our away game.”

His words and actions tumbled a thousand thrills through her body like he’d wrapped an enchanted lasso around her. Calista wanted him as tied up in these sensations as she was. At this angle though, she couldn’t get closer unless he lowered against her again. Or could she? She shifted her weight on her hands and raised her hips. Marvelous sizzles flashed through her. The position felt amazing. She arched her back higher, reaching for another pulse of sensation. “Yes.”

Ronan’s eyes flared and flashed electric blue. He moved his palms to her bum and squeezed. “You feel great. Do that again.”

His words and the encouraging press made her rotate her hips against him again, then she rubbed, and he gave her more pressure. Heady fuzziness filled her brain, and her body hummed with an unending buzz. Calista licked her lips.

Ronan’s breathing grew heavier. “Yes.”

The rolling clatter of a heavy four-wheeled cart sounded from the locker room. The laundry crew were making their post practice rounds.

She wanted to stay right where she was. In this position, but with less clothing and more privacy. Calista hopped up, and the proximity made her body flush against Ronan. Heat shot through her at more angles. So much to explore.

Ronan stood still. “I can’t move. You’ll have to step away, or my hands will be on you again.” His voice was low and husky. “But go slowly, or fast.” He threaded his hand through his hair. “I don’t know, both?”

Calista loved his tortured expression. She ducked under his arm and headed to the door. “Coming?”

Ronan followed her.

The door swung inwards, and Calista jumped back.

Saxon tucked his head in. His gaze searched out Ronan. “You’re still here, good. I need to talk to you about what to get Liam for his birthday.”

That could in no way be more fun than what they’d been doing. This birthday bash was giving her all kinds of grief. Calista looked over her shoulder and up at Ronan.

Ronan’s expression went neutral. He backed up. “Yeah.” His eyes shut her out. He took a seat and rolled up to the table. “I’m here for you.”

Saxon came in and gave her a nod. “Hey, Calista.” He paused. “Sure, you’re not busy, Captain?”

“Nope.”

Ouch. Calista left.

* * *

Instead of going straight back to Ronan’s, Calista went to class like she was supposed to. Stupid two session class day. If pressed, she’d have to admit that she’d given Project Genius no thought when Ronan had been between her legs. Sigh.

Real world hit Calista as soon as she walked in. All three of her classmates were in position, and the dry erase board was filled with mathematical notations in a heavy masculine scrawl, making the room smell like dry erase marker in addition to the usual beef jerky. Why couldn’t Artie use the smart board and restrict smelly snacks to his home? She got the vibe that he’d been there since this morning without leaving. Calista shoved open the window and fresh crisp air wafted through the room, clearing the stink.

“It’s cold,” Artie said.

Calista ignored him. She took her seat and vented to Olivia and Vivien about the Dodo ambush.

Olivia frowned and her mouth tightened. “You shouldn’t meet Dodo without legal counsel present.”

“True.” With her annoyance lessened, Calista was able to shake her impatience with Dodo off and roll to a decision. He’d told Calista to plan the party. She’d be the one to plan the party. Office chairs were a part of her gift. She was not consulting the GM about them, not unless the GM was required to vet all of Liam’s birthday presents. “Liam deserves a special day.”
