Willow pursed her lips. She wore an identical diamond-crusted puck necklace that hung low against her red silk top. “You’ll get too many things for us to list here, but I have great ideas. Our future events will blow our past ones away, you know me.”

Dahlia scooted her chair in closer. “We want to hear from you,” Dahlia said to the dancer. “Then, we’ll take the budget and decide as a group where the money benefits you most.”

A blonde dancer who’d been quiet thus far spoke up, “I feel like these are non-answers, nothing concrete.”

“You’re right,” Dodo said. “Dahlia’s smooth, but MBAs are like lawyers. They say nothing, hint you’ll have the world, but you never get satisfied. Whereas with me, well, you’re holding something concrete in your hands right now.”

Dodo’s legal team didn’t look put out by his words. The women pursed their mouths, not disagreeing.

Dodo gave a slight, you’re welcome nod. “Enough about me. The purported owner should speak. Calista.”

Yikes no. Why was Dodo always pushing her to talk? Because he knew she wouldn’t.

The attendees waited.

Calista took a drink from her bottled water. “No thanks, Dahlia’s got this, and Olivia.” Her voice came out sleep tired, but at least she expressed herself. Why not, couldn’t hurt worse than what had been said and unsaid in Ronan’s foyer yesterday.

“The dancers’ concerns weren’t on the agenda.” Olivia turned her legal pad around and tapped on the top. “Of course we can mock up a proposal, but the issues have to be disclosed first.”

“See, MBA and a lawyer.” Dodo held open his hands. He got a few chuckles, the loudest from Jerry.

Judge Johnston looked at Calista. “For the record, what do you have to say to the dancers’ concerns?”

Calista stared back at him. She had no answers.

“The dancers aren’t asking for a video presentation.” Judge Johnston was professional, but insistent, and his voice had a slightly sarcastic edge that reminded her of Professor Terrence.

The blonde dancer spoke up again. “Are we getting new dressing rooms? Like the men?”

Oh, she should have considered that. Calista chewed on her bottom lip, and her mind mentally shuffled through the stadium blueprints. They could make that work. She nodded slowly.

“I haven’t heard of any construction plans to that end,” Dodo said. “Nor has Calista consulted with me about re-doing the dancers’ space.”

Everyone looked at Calista again.
