“Oh, they would. They know exactly the type of man you are, and I know they couldn’t be more proud of you.”

“You’re pretty amazing yourself.”

I grin. “I know.”

He chuckles and steals another kiss. “Is there anything I can help you ladies with?”

“We got it.”

With one more kiss, Trent lets me go, and I turn to get started on toast. Seeing Ashlyn standing there watching us with tears in her eyes, I give her a small smile. I grab the loaf of bread and take it to the toaster.

Ashlyn bumps her hip against mine. “You’ve got a really good one there,” she says, looking over her shoulder at Trent.

I look too, and butterflies swarm in my belly at seeing him sitting at the table with Destiny. She has her iPad out, showing Trent something. Dillon comes into the room and walks over to the table, grabbing the side of Destiny’s head and tipping it back to kiss her forehead.

I look back at Ashlyn. “We both do.”

“Callme when you get home, or I’ll worry,” I tell Andrew once he lets me go from a rib-crushing hug.

“I will. And you call me if you need anything.” His expression turns stern. “I mean it, Skittles.”

“Yes, Dad.” I roll my eyes.

His eyes soften. He loves it when I call him dad.

He lets me go to bump fists with Trent. “You watch after our girl.”

“You don’t even need to ask.”

I turn to Jase and get another tight hug. “Take care of yourself.”

I nod. “I will.” I look over at Andrew before looking back at Jase. I don’t need to ask; Jase knows what I want.

“I’ll look after him.”

“Thanks.”

I laugh when Andrew hugs me again and kisses the top of my head. “Love you,” he grunts huskily.

I blink away the tears threatening to spill. “Love you too.”

Trent wraps an arm around my waist, and we watch as Andrew and Jase get inside Andrew’s truck. I lay my head on Trent’s shoulder and wave as they pull away.

“You okay?” He turns me to face him.

“Yeah.” I give him a watery smile.

“We’ll see them in a week.”

“I know. I just hate not having them around.”

He kisses the tip of my nose. “This whole thing will all be over soon. Before you know it, you’ll be complaining about Andrew’s antics again.”

My lips twist into a smile. “That’s true.”

“Come on.” He turns me toward the house. “You’re dead on your feet. You need a nap.”
