Her eyes crinkle at the corners. “I remember too. I remember thinking you were the prettiest boy I had ever seen.”

I wrinkle my nose. “Prettiest?”

She giggles. “Yep, the prettiest.”

“Not sure that’s the kind of description a man wants to hear from a woman when she’s talking about his looks.”

Her fingers start playing with the hair on the back of my neck. “Well, that’s what I thought. You want to know what I knew when we first met?”

“What?” I ask quietly when her expression turns serious.

“I knew I’d just met the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with.”

“You wanna know what I thought and felt when I saw you that day?”

Her eyes soften and she melts against me. “What?”

“After hearing what Andrew said you went through, I thought you were one of the strongest girls I had ever met, and I was right. Your strength still amazes me every day. I didn’t know what the feeling was at the time, but I knew you were special. I felt an instant connection and knew you were meant to be in my life. I just had no idea you would become my life.”

“Trent—”

I press a kiss against her lips to keep her quiet.

“If I lived a thousand lifetimes, it wouldn’t be enough to tell you how much I love you. There are no words to describe what you give me every day. You are the most precious thing I’ve held in my arms, and I thank God every day I have you in my life. I will never stop loving you.”

Ally’s eyes shine brightly with tears and her smile is tremendous. “Until never. That’s when I’ll stop loving you.”

A yell coming from the side of the house breaks up my and Ally’s heartfelt moment. We both look over as Destiny comes running toward us, Dillon and Ashlyn following at a slower pace.

With a squeal, Ally lets me go and runs over to meet our friends.

“What are you guys doing here?” she asks. “Not that I’m not happy to see you.” She gets to her knees to give Destiny a hug. “I missed you!”

Destiny gives Ally a loud kiss on her cheek. “We missed you too. That’s why we’re here!”

Laughing, Ally gets to her feet, giving Ashlyn and Dillon a hug.

“How long are you here for?”

“A few days. Dillon and I figured it was time we met your family and friends since you’ve met ours.” Ashlyn looks around the back yard. “You almost have as many as we do.” She laughs.

“Almost.” Ally grabs Ashlyn and Destiny’s hands. “Come on. I want you to meet everyone.”

Ally drags them away while Dillon and I trail behind them.

“And you were worried about the size of Ashlyn’s family,” Dillon says dryly.

I chuckle, handing him a beer I snagged from one of the coolers.

It takes almost an hour for Ally to introduce Ashlyn, Dillon, and Destiny to everyone. Erica is just as happy as Ally was to see them. She and Destiny really hit if off during the time we were staying with them.

We’ve just left Dillon and Ashlyn talking with Bailey and Jaxon when I take a seat in one of the empty chairs by Andrew. I pull Ally down on my lap.

“Becky and Brent would be so proud of you,” he says without looking away from Erica, who’s sitting at a picnic table with Destiny, Amari, and Mika.

“You really think so?”

Andrew’s gaze moves away from Erica, and he looks at Ally. “I know so. You’ve grown into an amazing woman, Skittles. And they would be so damn happy you ended up with Trent. You know how much they adored him, even though I never understood why.” He tosses her a wink.
