This wasn’t like her. She didn’t do one-night stands. Not ever. Would this even be a one-night stand? Perhaps she was overcompensating for the riot of feelings Mutt had created when he showed up. But it was more than that. She hadn’t felt this wild need for so long. If she was giving him permission to take what he wanted, then she was also giving herself permission to surrender to this lust.
“We need some privacy,” he groaned into her neck. “So I can get you naked.” His words caused shivers to run through her. They hadn’t really thought this through. Originally, they were supposed to sleep underneath his truck. But that wouldn’t offer them the seclusion they needed for what she had in mind.
“Grab your swag,” she said, voice husky from kissing. He put her back on her feet, reached in and did as he was told, first throwing his bull riding gear that’d ended up on the ground into the rear bed. Then she led him by the hand, bare chest and all, through the last line of cars. Ducking under the fence, they made their way toward the line of trees running parallel to the parking lot. Technically, they were probably on private property, but Bindi wasn’t worried. They could be back on the other side of the fence before dawn.
The roughened palm of his hand abraded hers, and she itched with the need to get him completely naked, see if the bottom half of him matched the top half, and… Oh. She stopped in the middle of the long grass. She’d almost forgotten.
“Do you happen to have…protection on you?”
“I sure do. A cowboy is always prepared.” She caught the flash of his white teeth as he shot her his brightest smile.
Oh, thank the Lord. “Good.” Would she have stopped this if he’d said no? She was grateful she didn’t have to answer that question tonight.
They made it to the cover of the first row of trees. It was dark out here, the bright lights of the rodeo not reaching this far. The three-quarter moon hung low and full on the horizon, like a porcelain halo in the sky, shedding pale light of its own. No one would be able to see them from the parking lot.
Mack dropped the swag, and she watched as he efficiently unrolled it. His back was lithe and supple as he bent to undo it, all that glorious man-skin glistening in the moonlight. And then, when he stood, she marveled anew at just how chiseled his torso appeared in the weak moonlight.
The walk over had done nothing to cool her eagerness to make love to Mack. In fact, it’d cemented the idea in her head even further. She could have this one night with him, away from Stormcloud, and all the well-meaning, but prying, eyes. No one would know what they’d been up to. He’d been a thorn in her side for days. This sexual thing buzzing between them had been filling her head with absurd ideas. Now, she could get him out of her system, and go back to her life on the station once more. She and Mack could keep a congenial friendship between them, nothing more. She really didn’t want a relationship with this American cowboy. He was going back to Montana at some stage, and she would be… Well, not going to Montana, at least. All she needed was for him to scratch this itch for her, then she could go back to being the normal, slightly-boring-but-proud-of-it woman she was used to.
“You still sure about this, Bindi?” His question caught her off guard, as did the two strong arms that swept her up into his embrace.
“Never been surer,” she assured him. Her fingers went to the zipper of his jeans, and this time she didn’t stop until she had it all the way down and the waistband pushed over his hips. While he shrugged the rest of his way out of the denim, she removed her boots, jeans and shirt, leaving her standing in her underwear.
“I wish we had some proper light,” Mack whispered. “Because you’re beautiful, and I want to see every single inch of you.”
He stepped toward her and lifted her easily in his arms, bending to lay her down on the open swag as carefully as if she were the most precious thing in the world to him. Sighing, she lay back and let desire swallow her up as he lowered his body over hers.
