Beau

The next morning, Gigi and I were running late. That was unusual due to the fact that G was such a stickler about arriving places on time—or early.

Last night had been an overly emotional one.

All the sex might have played a part in our tardiness as well.

Either way, I wasn’t complaining.

G and I had turned a new corner in our relationship, and it deserved to be celebrated.

A lot.

Over and over again.

There were only a few fans at the door by the time we got to the facility. Unfortunately, I knew one of them. “Beau, we need to talk. You’re not answering my calls,” the dark haired woman whispered to me as I watched Gigi signing a picture for someone. She was further ahead of me, still, I didn’t want her to suspect anything.

We’d been on a roll. No fighting or problems for almost two weeks now. I had managed not to screw up too badly or be too much of a dick.

Now a blast from the past wanted to talk to me.

“Not gonna happen, Sienna. Give it up. I’m with someone now and it’s serious,” I told her in a hushed voice. “Go chase someone else.”

“You don’t understand, I—”

“Give it up,” I said sternly, then turned abruptly to catch up with G.

After our short, morning meeting, I reached for my phone.

New messages from Sienna. I let out a long sigh.

Sienna: I’m still in the parking lot. Come out. I need to talk to you, it’s serious.

I messaged her back.

Me: I told you I’m with Gigi. What don’t you understand about that?

Sienna: I don’t care. This isn’t about her. I don’t want you back, I have to tell you something. Something I should have told you a long time ago. I’m not leaving until you come out. If you want to do this in front of Gigi, then that’s what we’ll do. I was trying to give you the courtesy of privacy.

My guts twisted inside me at the phrasing of her words. I had a feeling this was not something I wanted to do in front of the woman I loved.

Me: You’ve got two minutes.

“Tell the coach I left something in my car. I’ll be right back,” I said to Trey. Before he could ask any questions, I rushed out of the room.

My heart nearly beat out of my chest as I hurried through the hallway and out the door. The sun was nearly blinding as I gazed around the parking lot.

I heard a door slam, then a, “Beau, over here.”

Shit, shit, shit.

There she was, standing in front of a silver SUV. “Thanks for coming,” she said, raising her sunglasses to the top of her head.

“Two minutes,” I reiterated the contents of my last text.

She bit her lip and nodded. Her hair was longer now, and she definitely had more lines on her face then when we were together—Five? Six?—years ago?
