“Why are you suddenly so—amiable? Are you drunk?”

I snorted and shook my head. “Nope.”

“High?”

A small laugh shot out. “Never.”

“Then what’s up?”

That was an easy answer. “I’m beyond exhausted. This,” I said, waving my hands down my body, “is zombie Gigi. She doesn’t emerge often.” All on their own, my eyes closed again, and I sighed.

“I could be friends with Zombie Gigi,” he said in a cute, sexy voice. I mean it was cute and sexy to me. To any other sane person, it was probably a normal voice. His voice suddenly lowered to a deliciously husky tone. “But I like feisty Gigi, too.”

I hoped the faint blush I felt wasn’t too noticeable as I quietly laughed at his remark. If I was more alert, I could have thought of a comeback to that. Unfortunately, I let it slide.

His manly scent was stronger now—closer. I opened my eyes and Beau was right there. “Here,” he said, handing me a small feather that he’d pulled out of my hair.

“Yeah, I have feathers where feathers should not be.” He didn’t move back right away. Instead leaning over me, his face holding an expression I couldn’t decipher.

“We can be friends?” he asked, cautiously.

“Why not?” I said, smiling up at him. Gosh, if he moved his lips down like three inches—

He offered me his hand instead. “Friends?”

Immediately, I took it. “Deal,” I said, regretting it instantly once his big hand engulfed mine. That felt way too good. The heat from his skin combined with the handsome grin on his face had me holding in a groan. If he didn’t let go soon, I’d likely embarrass myself.

“Will Zombie Gigi be around tomorrow as well?” he asked, still holding my hand.

“Nope. I’ll sleep it off and be back to crazy again.”

His hand tightened on mine. “So, I should enjoy this reprieve while it lasts?”

Instead of answering, I gave him a smile.

“Are you ready for this?” he asked, his jaw taking on a sharper edge as he nodded toward the small, makeshift stage that was currently being set up.

Was I ready to have my personal business broadcast across several nations? Not particularly. But we’d all be crazy to pass up this opportunity. “Hey, if people want to watch me roast vegetables and make smoothies for ten months, who am I to say no?” I said snidely with a snort-laugh.

Again, Beau’s eyes roamed my body and I swear to you it was like I could feel his gaze caress me. “Gigi, I think a lot of people would love to watch you roast veggies and blend smoothies.” A playful smile hung on his lips.

“I’m the most boring person in the world. I bet they take my camera down in the first week,” I said with a long sigh. They’d installed 360 degree cameras in all of our living room/kitchen areas. They would only record us from seven in the morning to nine at night.

Once you subtracted the time we were at training, practices and meetings—that didn’t leave much time for us actually being at home anyway. The chances of the network concentrating on me as I cooked, baked, and cleaned was likely nil.

“I have my doubts about that.” He chuckled a knowing laugh that I didn’t understand.

“I have a feeling they’ll be more interested in the guys and their—adventures, than any of us girls.” I felt that down to my very soul. People tuning in would be there to watch the much more well-known men, not the women.

His stare lingered on my face as though he were searching for something—I had no clue what for, though. “I think you’ll be surprised, Gigi.” Beau stood and took my empty plate. “Looks like they’re going to start soon. Good luck.”

Then he turned and swaggered away. I might have watched his tight, perfect ass the entire time until he walked around the pool. Day one and I already couldn’t keep my eyes off him.

“Ladies and gents, if we could please get your attention?” A lackey of some sort stood on the tiny stage, waving his hands around to get our attention. Everyone hushed enough to listen. “Lola and Marco will be out shortly. If everyone could please gather round before they arrive?”

A few grumbles were heard, but we all moved closer to the main event. “I can’t wait to see what Marco actually looks like in person,” Jillian said behind me. Of course, she’d already met Lola from her time in the spotlight.

Some other members of our team huddled around us, seemingly excited to be there. Personally, I could leave all this right here. I had no desire to be on anyone’s television except during a game.
