Gigi

The next morning, I set my alarm for a quarter to seven in the morning. I figured this would give us enough time to get Beau off the couch and the blankets folded and put away before the cameras came on at seven.

What I hadn’t counted on was the fact that Beau was apparently not a morning person. No matter how many times I’d called to him from the kitchen, he did nothing but growl—which I had to admit was pretty sexy.

However, he needed to move his perfect behind off the couch before the stupid cameras came on. The puppies needed to go out and I hadn’t even started breakfast. All I’d accomplished was making lunches. “Do I have to come over there?” I threatened as I shoved two lunches and snacks into the fridge.

“Yes, please,” he groaned and rolled over, settling again.

I’d had about enough of this. We had under five minutes now before the cameras would come on. “Good grief, does your mommy come over every morning to get you ready for the day?” I asked sarcastically as I hurried over to the couch.

“I wish,” was all he muttered into his pillow.

I put my hand on the pillow and yanked it from under his head. Then I grabbed the top blanket and pulled that. “Hey,” he said loudly, as his arms flailed around attempting to get both items back from me.

Too bad for Beau I was faster and more awake at the moment. “You’ve got ten seconds to get up or I’m resorting to extreme measures.” With that, I carried the blanket and pillow back to my room and tossed them on the bed.

When I got back, he was still not up. “Fine, little boy. I warned you.” I walked to the back of the couch, dug my shoulder into the edge of it and pushed up with my arms and legs. Just slowly at first as a warning.

“You wouldn’t dare,” he mumbled.

That was it. We were officially out of time. I lifted the rest of the way until he rolled on the floor. That was when I really hustled and let the couch back down with a bang. I ran to pick up the puppies to use as cute, chubby shields.

“Get over here, woman,” Beau called from the floor.

“Can’t. Have to take the kids outside. Go shower and I’ll make pancakes when I get back,” I called, rushing out the door with the leashes.

The bright sun shinned directly in my eyes. Today wasn’t a yoga day, so nobody was in the courtyard yet that I could see. A few times a week, Jillian did early sessions for those who wanted to participate.

Not gonna lie, I was relieved that my first morning with Beau would be a tiny bit less hectic. I sauntered down the steps, feeling the heat of the day already upon us. The puppies started bucking in my arms to be put down.

“I can take them if you want?” a voice sounded to my left. I peered over, seeing Trey lying in the sun. No shirt on and he looked fine with a capital F. He wasn’t quite as broad across the shoulders as Beau, but Trey Turner was a hot commodity.

He stood and swaggered over to us. I tried my best not to swoon, but I probably failed. “Uh, are you sure? I don’t want to bother you?”

Trey dazzled me with his bright smile. “Honey, I love dogs. It’s no bother. I’m happy to help,” he said in a playful voice, looking down at me. He was a couple inches taller than Beau and handsome in a more boyish way.

I handed over the leashes after I set the puppies down. “All right, but make sure they both pee, okay? They can be stubborn so it might take some coaxing,” I said, giving him my orders.

He laughed lightly and it sounded nice to my ears. Not the same way Beau’s laugh sounded—not at all. But still nice. “I’ll make sure, I promise,” he said, taking the leashes from my hands. The puppies didn’t seem to care who was taking them, just that they were able to motor away.

“Thanks,” I hollered as the three of them took off toward the gate. Trey didn’t have any shoes on and that made me smile for some reason. The sight of such a big man walking with two tiny lapdogs was a darn cute thing to watch.

And I was watching them for far too long. I finally shook myself out of it and ran back upstairs to start breakfast.

I shut the door but left it unlocked in case Trey brought the dogs back. Looking through the cupboards, I took out all the ingredients for pancakes. Beau was a guy and they typically needed more calories and protein.

One thing I hadn’t asked him was if he used protein powder in his smoothies or not. I headed down the hallway to yell at him through the bathroom door. The sound of the shower hit me as I got closer. So did the sound of Beau saying, “Geneviève, fuck, yeah.”

Oh. My. Gosh.

My thighs and insides clenched in the most delicious way.

Much like they had when I’d heard him say my name in his own bathroom the night I slept over. I’d taken the puppies with me in the morning, but forgotten my phone. When I walked back in to get it, I had decided to let him know it was me.

That was when I’d heard him in his shower, the undeniable slapping sound emanating through the door before he’d called out a very strained, “Geneviève.”
