“Mae kicked her guy to the curb,” I informed the team. Murmurs of recognition sounded around me. Then, one at a time, we skated around her and shared whatever we chose to share.

Gianna went first. “You want me to beat him up?” she asked, hitting her on the arm.

Mae snort/laughed/cried all at the same time. “Maybe?” she answered as her chin quivered.

Next Jillian skated up to her. “When I first saw you, I thought you had the prettiest eyes. Come over tonight. I’ve got a new kind of lash extension that will knock any guy’s socks off. We’ll hit a few clubs this weekend. No losers allowed.”

I could see Jillian put her arm around Mae and whisper something quietly to her.

The screen flashed to me showing up at Jillian’s that night. When I walked in, I said, “Here, hold a puppy. It helps,” I said, imparting my words of wisdom. I handed my doggy to Mae, who was currently lying down in one of Jillian’s tilty chairs.

“No crying, it’s forbidden, or you’ll mess up these lashes,” Jillian warned, using long tweezers to add more lashes to Mae’s eye.

No more of our words could be heard, but a cute montage of our evening together played. We danced, we ate, we watched a bad, sappy movie. And we took turns hugging the puppy.

“Aww, I can’t even stand how fabulous those ladies are,” Lola said, wiping under her eyes as the camera panned back to her and Marco. “The way they look after each other is heartwarming.”

Marco put his arm around Lola and said, “They really are a cut above the rest. Let’s take a look at our men’s team now.”

They cut to the men’s practice. It looked like they were scrimmaging. It also looked like Trey was on Beau’s ass. Sudden recognition hit me—this was the practice I saw where it looked like they were going to fight. “She’s mine!” Beau yelled at Trey after he checked him into the boards.

“Yeah, we’ll see,” Trey said, a look of spitefulness on his face.

“Oh boy,” Niki said, and the girls all looked at me. Inside, I was screaming. Outside, I played it cool.

“Pfft, he’s just trying to push Beau’s buttons,” I said, attempting to shake it off. When really, I felt kind of shaky. Did Trey have feelings for me? He’d never been anything but nice.

I’d just assumed that Beau was overprotective when he’d warned me about Trey. I hadn’t thought anything about it, quite honestly.

Then it cut to a practice. Edwards took a few shots but missed badly. Beau cornered him at the boards. “What’s up? You look like shit?” Beau asked a very tired looking Edwards.

He sighed, ripping his helmet off. “Tina’s so damn sick. I couldn’t sleep last night I was so worried.”

“She and the baby all right?” Beau asked, the caring sound of his voice wrapped around me like a cozy blanket.

Edwards shrugged. “I don’t know. She says everything’s fine. But man, she’s constantly barfing. Tina’s never been like that. Not one bit of morning sickness with the other two.”

“Maybe this one’s a boy?” Beau asked, grinning at him.

“If it’s not, we’re going for number four.”

They both laughed. “Does Tina know that?”

“Not the right time to bring it up.”

Again, he and Beau burst out laughing. Beau hit him on the arm. “Go call your wife. Then take a nap. See you back here tonight.” Beau skated off, rejoining the practice.

Uhg, my heart nearly burst at how nice that was of Beau.

There were a few more clips of the guys on the ice and yapping together in the courtyard together.

Then it clicked over to Beau and I in the hot tub. This was the second time, before we’d moved in together. He was speaking French to me and you could just barely hear me answering back in French—aside from the diarrhea parts.

More kissing, to which the girls said, “Oh,” in an overexaggerated way, teasing me again.

Of course, it showed us leaving the hot tub and going to Beau’s.

“And I’m not one to gossip, Lola, but our camera people said Gigi didn’t leave for hours,” Marco said, looking straight at the camera with an eyebrow raised suggestively.
