Once I was dry, I threw on a pair of shorts. That was it. I worked hard on my body. My arms and torso were chick magnets. I hoped they were also Gigi magnets. It was one thing I had in my arsenal and I was going to use it.

The sound from the TV was drifting in through the doors. I took one more deep breath before heading in to find Gigi.

She was still on the couch. But now she was wrapped up in a blanket.

Hmm, blankets could be useful. And fun.

Her head turned to me. “Sorry, is it too loud? I can turn it down.”

“You’re not tired?” I asked, ignoring her question.

“Overtired. Can’t sleep,” she said, returning her gaze back to the screen.

I pulled the end of the blanket up. “Move over so we can share,” I suggested, her surprised gaze now noticing I was shirtless. It felt like her stare was a physical being, touching my shoulders and chest, trailing down to my stomach.

Without a word, she shifted, letting me under the blanket. “I left you the big comforter. I can sleep out here,” she said, her eyes drifting from my face, down my neck.

Again, I didn’t answer her. Mostly because she’d be sleeping in my bed with me. Not out on the couch. Or at least that was what I hoped would happen.

“What are you watching?” I asked, slipping my arm around her shoulders, pulling her warm body closer.

“Umm, I don’t know,” she said, her eyes stuck on my face.

I leaned over, sniffing a light, floral scent on her hair. “Mm, you smell good.”

“Beau?” she asked, still staring at me.

“Uh huh?”

“What the heck are you doing?”

The gig was up. Leave it to Gigi to be the only girl I’d met resistant to my moves. Guess I’d have to do this on the level. “Did you have fun today?”

“Yeah, the park was beautiful, and the food was delicious. The rink was probably the most fun, though. Oh, and meeting your family was really nice, too.”

She was straight up killing me. “I meant with me. Did you have fun with me?”

“Yeah.”

I sighed, lowering my forehead to hers. “I like you, Geneviève.”

“I like you, too.”

“But do you like me, like me?” Jesus, it was official. I was back in high school. Her eyes scanned my face for far longer than I liked. “Answer me.”

She bit her lip. “Don’t ask me that, Beau.”

“I’m asking. I have to know.”

“No, you don’t.”

“I do.”

“Please, Beau. Don’t ask that.” Her voice held more than a hint of begging.

“You told me you don’t lie. Not about the important stuff. Tell me the truth, do you like me like me?” I’d never felt this raw—this fucking exposed to anyone in my entire life.

Pain or something I couldn’t decipher crossed her face. “Yes.”
