Lexi

The second I stepped outside the facility, cameras started flashing in my eyes. I flinched and wondered what the heck was going on.

I turned my head to see if Beau or Gigi was behind me. The press loved them. But, they weren’t there.

“Lexi, how do you feel about your dad and your husband both entering rehab at the same time?” one of the reporters shouted out to me as she stuck a microphone in my face.

I kept walking.

Faster now.

“Come with me,” I heard Jillian say beside me. Her arm wrapped around mine, and she guided me in the direction of her car.

“What did they—”

“Shh,” Jillian said sharply. “Don’t say a word until we’re in the car.”

She hurried me along. “Don’t look back. Don’t react. It’ll be okay.”

I did exactly what she said—for a few reasons.

Number one, I had no idea what else to do.

Number two, she seemed to know what she was talking about.

And number three—because my brain was so muddled at the moment, I thought I heard the reporter say that my dad and Trey had entered rehab.

And that couldn’t be true.

I would have heard from one or both of them if that were the case.

And, I hadn’t heard from Trey since last night.

He would have called me this morning. Or Dad would have at least.

Shitballs.

When was the last time I checked my phone?

I couldn’t even remember.

We’d had an intense morning of practices. The afternoon was full of meetings and strategies—and planning.

Maybe I hadn’t looked at my messages since I woke up?

I jumped into Jillian’s car, and she sped off. After we turned onto the main road, she looked at me. “It’s true, Lex. They both went in this morning.”

I stared at her, confused. “What?”

“Your dad and Trey. They went into rehab.”

I felt like I was trying to add up numbers that made no sense.

I blinked slowly.

“What are you talking about?”
