Page 2 of Perfect Tenn

“I think we established that already,” I say, giving him a wink.

“I know the perfect guy for you,” he says, puffing out his chest with pride.

I stand up, grabbing my coffee cup off the table and turning my head to look at him with a smile. “No thanks.” Opening the dishwasher, I put my mug in. When I turn around, I bump right into Tenn. “Christ, why are you up my ass?”

“You didn’t even let me tell you about him.”

I hop up on the counter and toss my hand out for him to continue.

“He’s perfect for you,” he says, crossing his arms over his chest, making his muscles flex.

“Wow, you’re right. He sounds great.” I hop off the counter, and just as I walk out of the kitchen I toss over my shoulder, “No thanks.”

I take a shower and get ready to meet Holly for lunch. I smile looking in the mirror, tucking a loose red curl behind my ear. My blue eyes pop with this teal sundress. Leaning forward, I apply my pink lipstick, and I’m ready.

Heading into the living room, I grab my cell phone sending a text to Holly that I’m leaving soon. Thankfully, Tenn is in his room, probably sleeping since he didn?

??t get any last night. What a douche thinking he would set me up. I’m perfectly fine picking the wrong guys all on my own. I appreciate him thinking he knows what I want or need, but I’m not sure how I feel about him setting me up.

A slamming door causes me to yelp, and I turn around clutching my chest. “What the hell, Tenn. You scared the shit out of me.”

He leans against the couch and runs his hand through his hair. “Oops, sorry.”

I roll my eyes and grab my purse. “I’m leaving. I’ll see you later, unless you’ve left for the night.”

Just as I open the front door, Tenn taps my shoulder. I turn my head raising an eyebrow at him. What the hell is with him today?

“You have a date Friday with Joey.” I gasp, and he smiles. “You’re welcome.”

I turn around and slam the door. “I told you no thanks. No thanks, no thanks. That was my nice way of saying, fuck no.” I close my eyes and blow out a breath. “Tenn, why would you do that?”

He wraps his arm around my shoulder and kisses my hair. “Listen, I know what I’m doing. Come on, trust me.”

I elbow him and he grunts, holding his stomach. “You’re an asshole,” I say and walk out the door, slamming it in his face.

“Come on, Regan, you’re going to be late,” Tenn yells across the house.

I’ve changed my outfit no less than ten times. This blind date is making me a nervous wreck. The only thing I know about him is that he’s an auto mechanic like Tenn. I’m still not sure about it, but after listening to Tenn all week, he started to make sense.

“Regan, who knows you better than I do? No one. Joey is perfect for you.”

“Here’s the thing. You suck at picking guys. I’m a guy, I know what I’m doing. Let me help you.”

“You need to find someone so you aren’t always on the couch in the morning when my guests leave.”

That was probably the best advice. I’d much rather not see that shit all the time. He did, however, make some valid points. I do suck at picking guys and maybe, just maybe he could help. I mean, what could I possibly lose? It’s not like I’ve got guys lining up to take me out. Hell, I haven’t had sex in six months. Six fucking, long months.

“Regan,” he yells, banging on my door. I take a deep breath and open it. He rakes his green eyes over my entire body, landing on my face. “You look beautiful.”

He tells me I’m beautiful all the time, but right now I feel it. My hair is up in loose curls, and this black satin dress with the spaghetti straps hugs my body, giving me some nice cleavage.

I push up on my toes and kiss his cheek. “Thanks, Tenn.” I walk past him and go into the kitchen to grab a drink. “Gah, I’m so nervous. What if I don’t like him or he doesn’t like me?” I say, licking a drop of water off my lip.

“If he doesn’t like you, well he’s fucking crazy.” He grabs my elbow and leads me to the couch. “I’m going to give you gold here, so pay attention.” I want to laugh, but I just grin and nod my head. “If his cell phone rings and he answers, that is his friend giving him an excuse to leave. So if that happens, he’s a dick. If at the end of the date he says he’d like to come in, but he can’t stay the night because he has a business trip, he’s a lying cock sucker. If during dinner he constantly yawns, checks his phone, or pays more attention to the waitress than you, he’s a fucking loser. If during the date, he only talks about himself and doesn’t care to ask you anything, he’s a prick. There are always clues as to how the date is going, you need to pay attention. All these things are done purposely to drive you away.”

I just blink my eyes over and over, holding tightly to my water. “What the hell?”

“Hey, I’m trying to help.”
