“Graphic, Mom,” I laugh.

She laughs and reaches over to wipe the last of my tears. “Oh, grow up. I’m making a point here. I did the same thing you are doing, I went at your father with my claws out. I didn’t even give him a chance to defend himself, in my mind he was a no-good cheat. Thing is, I was wrong. We are proud women, Regan, but the older you get the more you will realize that it’s more about compromise not just always being right. You need to talk to him, not accuse him,” she says with a small smile.

“I don’t like being wrong, but this is one time I really hope I am,” I admit.

She reaches over and grabs my hand. “You know Tenn, you know his heart, his beliefs and his words. Do you really think he’d go out and cheat on you?”

“No, but…” I don’t even want to say it to her.

“But what?”

Crap. “But we’ve only had sex once since all this, and that is because I initiated it,” I mumble.

“Sometimes life does get in the way of our sex lives, baby girl. You think when you kids were young that your father and I went at it every day? Hell no, we were too tired from dealing with you monsters. You can’t base your accusations on just that or most couples would assume the same,” she says.

Talking to my mom with no sexual references is refreshing and makes me feel like even more of an asshole for everything. I did just kind of go at him and didn’t give him a chance to explain himself. Fuck.

I look up at her, pouting. “So now what?”

“Now, we go downstairs, have a delicious dinner, and talk about sex. After that, you take home these letters, read through them, and decide for yourself where to go from here,” she says, standing up. “For the record, I didn’t talk to Tenn. I talked to Brenda, and I defended you.” She raises her eyebrows. “See what I mean about assuming.”

During dinner, my parents’ did nothing but talk about sex, and for the first time ever I laughed along with them. It was a nice distraction to all the crazy running through my head. I can’t promise I’ll always laugh with them, but for tonight, I did.

When I decide it’s time to go home, my mom grabs me in a tight hug. “Thanks for everything, Mom,” I whisper.

“Always. Make sure you answer your damn phone when I call and check on you,” she says, pulling away.

I promise her I will, and with her box of letters in hand, I leave. Driving home has me nervous, but I know I need to face Tenn and actually talk with him. Unfortunately, when I pull up, he’s still not home. A sinking feeling I’ve never had before grabs ahold of me as I go inside. The house feels so empty and I don’t want to focus on that, so I take my mom’s letters into my room and shut the door.

Changing into my PJs, I climb into bed and open the box. Well, hopefully I will find some answers in here, because I’ll do anything at this point to fix my broken heart. I miss Tenn and his meaty cock.

After staying up almost all nigh

t reading all the letters my dad wrote to my mom, I found myself laughing, crying, and seeing a completely different side of them both. What surprised me the most was seeing how hurt my father was when my mom accused him of cheating.

I fucked up, and I know it. It’s time for me to stop acting like a spoiled brat and talk to Tenn. No accusing, no yelling…sit down and actually talk. If I learned anything from these letters, it’s that communication is huge.

Taking a deep breath, I shove all the letters back into the box and climb out of bed. I walk out of the bedroom and stop when I see Tenn sitting on the couch.

My throat suddenly goes dry, and I need to swallow a few times before I can even form words. Walking slowly over to the couch, I sit down facing him. “Hey,” I whisper.

He turns his attention to me and runs his hand through is messy hair. “Hey,” he says with a sigh.

“I need to just say this because I’m going crazy. My head is so fucked up right now, so I’m sorry. I’m sorry I went all psycho, drunk girlfriend on you. I’m sorry that I accused you of cheating and didn’t ask what was wrong. You need to understand that you not being here, rushing me off the phone and not having sex with me, well it made me jump to conclusions,” I rush out, my heart pounding so loud I hear it in my ears.

He glances at me briefly, before turning back to the TV. “Yep,” he says.

Closing my eyes, I take a calming breath before I reach over and nut punch him. “Anything you want to explain to me?”

“Nope,” he says before sipping his coffee.

One word answers, that doesn’t piss me off at all. “So instead of trying to talk this through like adults, you want to give one worded answers like a child?”

He turns his head and searches my face before turning away. “Yep.”

“Tennyson Stephens, stop being such a smart ass and talk to me,” I yell, jumping up from the couch.

He stands up and locks his eyes with mine. “Oh, now you’re ready to talk? What happened to just throwing out accusations?” he loudly asks.
