Prologue

One Year Ago

Riley

* * *

I tip back my beer as I watch her at the end of the bar. Her tight, black jeans hug her ass perfectly. Her white tank top does nothing to hide the fact she’s not wearing a bra. Her long black hair is begging to be pulled. But it’s her laugh that stops me from looking away. Every time she laughs, she throws her head back as the sweet sound escapes her. It’s captivating.

Alex and Porter left about a half hour ago, but I couldn’t make myself leave. The sexy hellcat that’s flirting endlessly with the bartender and pretty much every guy that stands close to her, may need me to step in. I’ve watched her drink enough to knock me on my ass. I don’t know her, I’ve never seen her before, but there’s something about her that keeps me in my seat.

We don’t often go to another bar. Souls is our clubhouse, our money maker, our home, but we wanted a change of pace for one night. Watching this black-haired raven makes it all worth it for me. Even if I don’t talk to her, I’ll be jerking off to the thought of her when I get home. She’s young, but those are the women I’m attracted to. Hell, I don’t feel like I’m forty-two, I need someone who can keep up with me.

I light a cigarette as I finish off my beer. I hold my empty beer up when the waitress walks by and she nods her head to acknowledge she sees me. I decide to take a step away from what some may consider stalking and take a quick piss. I’ve been nursing my drinks all night, so I decide after this beer I’m leaving. Hopefully the little hellcat decides she’s ready to leave and I can have a clear conscience that I didn’t leave a beautiful drunk girl around all these horny men. I almost laugh at myself because I’m one of the horny men.

When I get back to my table, the beer’s waiting for me. I tip it back, letting the cold liquid cool down my overheated body. I haven’t had sex in almost a week and my dick is fucking angry with me. I’m gonna have to grab a Souls chick soon because if my hand is the only thing that one-eyed beast sees coming, he may actually climb inside himself.

Right before I finish my beer, the young raven climbs off the bar stool and walks out the door. I smile when I see she leaves alone. I toss some money down and head out the wooden door. The warm air smacks me in the face as I head toward my Harley. Just as I climb on, I hear fighting. I sigh, scrubbing my face. I know I shouldn’t get involved, but I swing my leg over and light a cigarette. I stride toward the yelling voices and stop short when I see it’s my hellcat.

She’s screaming at some guy, poking him in the chest as she angrily gets in his face.

I laugh as I walk over. “Woah, what the hell is going on?”

They both look at me as I blow smoke toward the guy. He’s probably an innocent party, but I’ve been waiting all night to step in and help this chick, so I might as well enjoy it. The guy holds his hands up, stepping back. He’s young, probably in his early twenties. He’s clean shaven, short blond hair, and khakis. Fucking khakis. I should kick his ass for that fact alone. I raise my eyebrow as I stare him down and I’m almost certain he pisses in his lame ass khakis.

“Dude, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize she had a man. She wanted a ride home, that’s it,” he says, tripping over a rock or some shit on the ground. Fucking pussy.

I smirk as I toss my cigarette to the ground. I run my hand through my hair and shake my head. “First, don’t fucking call me dude. Second, if you really wanna get laid, like ever, wear some goddamn jeans. You look like you work at the fucking Gap or some shit. Last, if you can’t handle a drunk woman, don’t bother ever going to another bar. Drink at home, alone, in your khakis, because if I have to guess, that’s where you're headed anyway. Might as well get a head start on it,” I say, shrugging.

“Okay, just don’t hurt me,” he stutters.

“You think because I’m wearing a cut, ride a Harley, and have kickass tattoos, that I’m gonna kick your ass?” I ask.

“What? No. I mean, not really. Maybe a little, I don’t know, just can I go now?”

He looks petrified and it causes me to laugh. “Get the fuck out of here,” I yell, just for fun.

He almost falls running to his car and I shake my head. “What a fucking pussy,” I whisper.

“That was hot.”

I spin around to find the sexy black-haired raven staring at me. She’s got the brightest green eyes I’ve ever seen. The hellcat nickname suits her more with those catlike eyes. She smiles at me as she steps closer. I can smell the combination of her coconut scent and alcohol. That’s a bad fucking mixture for me. Both turn me on.

“I love a guy who stands up for a woman. Especially one who makes another guy run off scared.”

“I love a girl who notices a guy like that,” I say, grinning.

“How about a ride home?” she asks, grabbing onto my cut.

An opportunity to have her pressed against me. I’d be a fucking fool to say no. Again, I know I probably should call her an Uber and get the hell out of here, but I’m a selfish prick.

“Sure thing,” I say, holding my arm out for her to grab.

She links her arm through and smiles at me. “So, you’re a gentleman, huh?”

I laugh as we walk toward my bike. “Onl

y when I need to be.” When we get to my bike I hand her a helmet to put on. “Where’s your place, hellcat?”

She slips the helmet on and sways to the side, almost falling. I grab her as she laughs. “It’s, oh shit, next to a white fence.”

I roll my eyes as I climb on my bike. “That’s not gonna help. Do you have your license? It will have your address.”

I hold onto her as she climbs on behind me. “No, I think I lost it maybe, or oh my sister might have it.”

Christ. “Do you have a cell phone on you?”

“Yes!” she yells, pulling it out of her pocket as she almost falls off the bike. “Fuck, it’s dead.” She starts laughing hysterically as she tries to put it back into her pocket.

I grab it from her and shove it into mine. “You can sleep it off on my couch. I’ll bring you home in the morning.” I don’t even give her time to answer as I start my bike. “Hold on tight.”
