I don’t say shit, I just stare at him. He doesn’t make eye contact with me. He flips through papers, pulling one out.

He puts the paper in front of me and I look down at it. It’s a statement from agent as

shole. He told them everything, including how I shot him. I’m going to bury that asshole alive this time and let him really suffer his death.

My lawyer grabs the paper and reads it over. “What’s the point of this? My client already told you none of this happened.”

“Well,” he begins, crossing his leg. “It’s a little hard for me to believe a criminal over a federal agent.”

“I’m not a criminal,” I say.

“I beg to differ,” he replies. “I have your arrest record in front of me, Mr. Giddens.”

I shrug as I cross my arms. “I’ve gotten in some trouble. That doesn’t make me a criminal.”

He laughs, throwing his head back. “Alright. Still, Agent McKay says something completely different.”

“I told your people already, he’s a dirty agent. He came to me wanting me to do all those things because he believes my club interfered with his drug connection. None of that is true. I believe you should be asking him why a federal agent is involved with smuggling or distribution of drugs,” I say, lifting my shoulders.

“Why would you believe that?” he asks.

“Because he told me. He said he used to get his drug supply from Kingsley,” I reply.

My lawyer cuts in and shakes his head at me. “What do you want from him to get out of here?”

“How about you tell me what Zane Madden had to do with the death of Kingsley?”

I laugh as I shake my head. “Zane had nothing to do with that. That was some crazy love triangle, like Romeo and Juliet. You die, I die kinda shit.”

“Right, sure it was,” he mumbles.

“If you aren’t going to believe anything I say, what’s the point of questioning me?”

My lawyer gives me a stern look, narrowing his eyes. Fuck him. He’s just sitting there with his dick in his hand.

“The point is to discover the truth,” he says.

“The real truth or the truth you wanna hear?” I ask.

“Riley, enough,” my lawyer hisses.

I grab the pack of cigarettes off the table and light one. “Okay, I need out of here. I’m in serious danger, so how do I make that happen?”

Agent what the fuck ever his name is leans on the table. “What makes you say you’re in danger?”

“Well, the fact that your boy Agent McKay told me he put a hit on me. So, I’m a little tired of watching my back,” I lie.

“You sure it’s not because you had enemies before you got here?” he asks, shaking his head.

“I’m a fun-loving guy. I have no enemies, just non-friends,” I reply.

My lawyer grabs his phone and checks whatever the text is that just came through. “Shit,” he whispers. He looks up at the agent and sighs. “I need to go see another client immediately. Any possible way we can finish this after?”

“Absolutely, go. I’ll make sure he gets back to his cell.”

My eyes widen as my lawyer doesn’t even give it a second thought and rushes out the door. Before I can even say anything, the agent smirks as he leans over the table closer to me.

“You want to get out of here?”
