“It’s perfect. Are you ready?”
He nods and looks over at me. “Hey McKinley, you look great. Ready to get this going?”
Suddenly it all becomes so real, and I feel my nerves taking over. I smile up at Jax and try to calm my pounding heart.
“Sure,” I say.
He winks at me and starts walking over to stand in front of the pool. I follow behind, hoping like hell I don’t mess this up. I’ve never modeled with someone else before and I’m sure Jax is used to working with women who have a lot of modeling experience. Not my lack of.
“Alright, now we want these shots to be sexy, yet loving. Jax knows how to do it, so McKinley just follow his lead. If I think you need to stand differently or move a hand or something I’ll tell you. Just relax and do what comes naturally,” Kallie says, being completely professional.
Jax and I stand in front of the pool and face each other. He wraps one arm around my waist and pulls me flush against him and uses the other to rest on my cheek. I take a deep breath and wrap my arms around his neck.
“Great. McKinley, move your left arm down to Jax’s waist and just keep looking at each other,” Kallie instructs.
I do as she says and Jax and I just stare at each other. I’m so fucking glad I don’t need to smile right now because my pulse is racing being so close to Jax right now. He looks at me like Braden would, but without the emotions, I see in his eyes. I’m mesmerized by his ability to appear to care about me.
“Awesome guys. Now I want you, McKinley, to hold onto Jax’s lapels and hike your leg up onto his hip,” Kallie says.
I do that and Jax knows exactly what to do. He grabs my leg and pushes my dress up, holding tightly on my upper thigh with one hand and rests his other hand on my ass. It shocks me for a second and I kind of jump.
Jax looks down at me and smirks, “Relax. There is going to be a lot of touching. You need to be comfortable with that.”
I nod my head, not wanting Kallie to know, and mentally slap myself. This is my dream damn it, if I blow it with Jax, I’ll never make it. So, I take a deep breath and clear my thoughts.
“Sexy guys, I love it. Now I need you guys to kiss. McKinley, hook your fingers through the belt loops in the back of his pants. Jax, your hands on her face,” she says.
It doesn’t even phase her that her fiancé is going to kiss me. That’s how good they are at what they do and how solid their relationship is.
Once I hook my fingers into the belt loops and Jax touches my face, he leans in and kisses my lips. It shocks me that I don’t feel anything when he does. This does everything for my confidence. I quickly realize that this is nothing more than what it is, taking beautiful photos.
“Perfect. Now Jax dip her and McKinley grab onto his shoulders. Look at each other and then one more kiss.”
We do and after looking at each other for a few minutes, Jax once again presses his lips to mine. After Kallie instructs us to do a few other things, she tells us how amazing they are looking and says that’s it for these photos.
“You are doing great McKinley,” Jax whispers before going inside to change.
“You look like a natural. I could see you relax and once you did, the photos were stunning. I’ve only got a few photos to do with Jax and Blake before you get back in. So, you can go change into your first bathing suit if you like,” Kallie says.
I thank her and grab my bag. As I walk inside Jax and Blake are walking into the kitchen, both shirtless with swim trunks on.
“I watched out the back door McKinley, you did such a great job. I’m proud of you,” Blake says, giving me a quick kiss on my cheek.
“Thanks, Blake, that means a lot,” I say and they both smile at me before walking outside.
I go into the bathroom to change and look in the mirror. The woman I see looking back at me is not the same one that rolled into town a few months ago. That McKinley doesn’t exist anymore, she was weak, used, alone and nothing good happened for her, she died when I drove away from that trailer. This McKinley is strong, supported by so many, surrounded by amazing people and her dreams are coming true. This is where I belong, with these amazing people and Braden.
I change into my black and white bikini before putting on my cover-up, fix my hair and makeup, and smile at myself one more time. I walk outside and stand back a bit from the pool. I don’t want to get in Kallie’s way while she is shooting the guys. Watching them makes me laugh. They are horsing around in the pool as if they were just hanging out. Kallie is laughing also, but quickly snapping away from every angle she can.
She yells to them to jump up and just sit on the side of the pool and even as they push up out of the pool, she is snapping away. What an amazing talent she has to just know when to shoot, no matter what is going on. They hop out of the pool and watching them sit on the side, I already know that this photo is going to go viral. The women are going to go fucking crazy when they see these two hot guys, wet sitting next to each other.
“I’m done with you two. Thanks, Blake.” Kallie looks back toward me and continues, “Drop the cover-up and come over here, McKinley.”
Not feeling any of the nerves I did earlier, I walk over with all the confidence I have and stand by her. She tells me that she wants me to stand on this side of the pool and look over to Jax. I do and she gets busy snapping away. Once that is done, she has Jax back in the water and swimming toward my side. Once he is there, he rests his arms on the side and looks up at me. I smile down at him and Kallie is very excited with the look. She tells me to slowly walk down the steps while Jax is instructed to watch me.
Thankfully the water is warm, and I have no problem just walking in. Once I’m to the bottom of the steps, Kallie has Jax come over to me. He pulls me to him, and I instinctively wrap my arms around him. Kallie is snapping away and giving us instructions for each new move. She has me down to my shoulders now and we are once again kissing.
“Jax, I want you to help McKinley sit on the side of the pool. McKinley, I want you to lean back on your hands with your head back. Jax, I want your hands all over her body,” Kallie says.
