He finishes off his beer and smiles. “I didn’t know if you were going to try to get boss lady to be your girlfriend,” he says, laughing.

“Fuck you.”

“Don’t ask her like that, you need to say make love,” Everett says.

I shake my head. “You are all fucking idiots. We’re still going to dinner and tonight I’ll talk to her.”

“How are you gonna do it?” Lane asks.

I laugh as I stand up. “What is this high school? I’m gonna talk to her.”

“Flowers?” Everett asks.

“You want me to give her flowers and ask her to be my girlfriend?” I ask, raising my eyebrow.

We all laugh, but I make a mental note to send her flowers.

“Okay, now that we have all this figured out, I’m going to get some sleep before dinner,” Remi says, standing up.

We all agree that it’s a good idea and that we’ll meet at eight for dinner.

I lay down and toss and turn for a half hour. I know the problem and I’m done fighting it.

I grab my phone and pull up Lorelei’s number.

Me: Hey.

Lorelei: Hey!

Me: What are you doing?

Lorelei: Trying to take a nap.

I smile and sit up.

Me: Good come to my room now.

Lorelei: Why?

Me: Just do it.

Lorelei: Be right there.

I toss my phone and go to the door. I open it, leaning against the door frame. She walks out of her room and when she sees me, she shakes her head.

I’m starting to need you, angel.

When she reaches me, she raises an eyebrow. “What?”

I grab her hand, leading her into the room. The door closes behind us as I lead her to the bed.

“Take a nap with me,” I say, standing in front of the bed.

She laughs and goes to pull away. “What? No!”

I pull her closer and wrap my arms around her waist, resting my hands on her lower back. I search her captivating blue eyes and grin. “You know as well as I do that, we both sleep better this way. Why fight it?”

“People will get the wrong impression,” she whispers.
