She scoops up the seventy dollars that she had separated from the rest. She quickly rounds the couch until she’s less than a foot from where I’m standing.

My gaze trails over her body. Her skin is flushed, and her hair is a mess. She looks freshly fucked, which only makes me want her more.

Her hand darts out toward me. “I can’t keep that tip, Sean. It was too generous. I’ll keep thirty if that’s okay. Here’s the rest.”

I stare at the offering in her open palm. “Keep it.”

Her hand shakes. “No. I can’t. It’s too much. It’s more than you tipped Rolly.”

Rolly isn’t a vision of beauty. I’m not falling for him.

“Keep it,” I repeat.

“Please.” Her voice quakes. “I need you to take this.”

Clearly, this isn’t about the size of the tip. There’s something else going on here, but I don’t know whether this is the time to push.

I don’t want to taint what we just did with a disagreement about how generous I should be when it comes to her, so I revert to what always works for me when I’m staring down the barrel of an uncomfortable conversation with someone I care about.

Compromise has never let me down yet.

“I’ll take it if I can make up the difference in orgasms.”

She flashes a wicked smile. “I like the sound of that.”

“I’ll like the sounds you make when I’m doing that.” I chuckle. “Count up your earnings and meet me back in bed. I’ll be the guy waiting for you to sit on his face.”

“Again?” she asks as she places the money in my hand.

“Again and again, Champ.” I slick my tongue over my bottom lip. “The going rate is one dollar for every orgasm. I owe you seventy of them, so let’s get to it.”

Her eyes widen. “Seventy?”

“Spread over the next week or two.”

She moves closer to plant a kiss in the middle of my chest. “Thank you.”

I scoop her chin in my hand to lure her gaze up to meet mine. “I haven’t paid the difference back yet. You can thank me after I’ve done that.”

“I will,” she whispers. “I meant thank you for not asking about all that.”

It’s taking all the self-control I possess not to ask her why she can’t accept the full tip, but I sense she doesn’t need me to push her right now.

I glance over her shoulder to the coffee table. “Are you working two jobs right now to save up for something in particular?”

“I am.” She bites the corner of her bottom lip. “Freedom.”

“Freedom,” I repeat the word, not knowing the context but wishing I could give it to her now.

“I’ll meet you in the bedroom.” Her voice turns playful again. “This has been an incredible night.”

“It’s not over yet,” I remind her with a kiss on her lips before I turn and head back to my bedroom, wishing I could give her everything she needs and more.
