“No. You’re a danger to me and others around us. If you’re responsible for these murders…” I thought of the hand, lost in a ditch, so far away from its body. “Then I’m putting myself down. I don’t deserve to live.”

The beast snarled. Clearly offended, it lashed out. I grimaced as pain flared in my gut. It hit hard and fast, like a flash bang but more painful.

I dug my fingers into my own thighs.

“No.” I wouldn’t move. The beast could not come out.

It could fight me until the sun rose…

I realized that I was falling too late. The world fell away, slowly shrinking as I tumbled backwards. At first, I thought I was being attacked. Then, I figured out that it was my beast. The creature yanked me back and shoved me deep within myself.
