Then she left the office, closing the door behind her. I exhaled heavily, feeling bad that I was going to change plans and not go home for lunch with Alexa. I took out my cell phone and sent Alexa a text to let her know that I would be home mid-afternoon and would miss having lunch with her and Leif.
I hope she understood.
She texted right back.
ALEXA: Of course, I understand you have to stay for the business lunch meeting. Exciting new developments? I can’t wait to hear the details. Leif and I will be fine on our own. See you when you get here. Love you. XOXO
I smiled at the text and sent her a few XOs back.
Then, I texted John.
LUKE: What do you know about this mystery meeting with Jack and Elena? Any deets at all?
John texted me back.
JOHN: Not yet. I’m as in the dark as you are. See you downstairs. We can take the limo together.
I texted him back and then checked my watch, a sense of excitement growing about the meeting with Jack.
I hoped it was really great news, like a big investor coming on board.
If so, I would pick up a nice bottle of non-alcoholic champagne so Alexa and I could celebrate at the beach house.
