She’d seen a disaster zone like this a few times before. She had three children, after all. Three children who sometimes didn’t think about what they were actually doing in the bathroom. But Nick, he looked completely overwhelmed.

“You shut off the water already?” she called as she hurried toward the master bath off Nick’s room. He’d have towels in there, too. She should know. She’d bought them the day he’d gotten Nova.

First order of business, get the mess cleaned up. Second. Figure out what had happened. So they could fix it.

She had a few suspicions.

The kids filed in, Noah in front, Becky on his hip. “She really has to go. I don’t think she can wait—whoa! What happened?”

“Take her into your dad’s bathroom,” Robin ordered. “She can use that one, but with the water off, she can’t flush. Or wash her hands. Wesley, go get the hand wipes out of the car. Noah, when you get a chance, you can change your clothes. And so can Nova. Philip, grab my phone and call Uncle Phil and Aunt Glenna—tell them we’re going to be running seriously late today.”

“Can I tell them Nick’s toilet exploded?” her son asked, wide-eyed. “Are there any t—"

“Philip—unnecessary. Tell Aunt Glenna I’ll bring you five out there in a bit, then come back to help Nick clean up.”

“What happened?” Noah asked, looking ready to panic.

“Plumbing. Sometimes…it just goes wrong and you have to fix it,” Robin said. “We’ll get it taken care of.”

There was a little redheaded girl hiding behind Philip’s back. One with a guilty, tortured expression on her beautiful little face.

Robin put two and two together quickly.

But first…

Her shoes were getting soaked by toilet water. It was time to get this mess cleaned up.
