Harper: Yes.

The little dots bounce at the bottom of the screen, so I wait for her message. They bounce and bounce and bounce until a huge message comes through.

Harper: Would you mind if we hung out at your place again? Hopefully this doesn’t sound super weird, but I’d rather not go out right now, especially not with the way my face looks. But if you want to go out, I can cover it up with some makeup. Just let me know. But I want you to know that I don’t need to go out. I’m totally fine watching a movie at your place and getting a pizza or something. Or maybe some burgers. Dang it, I think I’m craving burgers now. And cheese. And lemon bars. Do you like lemon bars? I can bring some. Yikes, I’m going to stop now. Sorry.

I drop my phone on my lap and laugh. The fact that I can picture her having this little speech in front of me with her little nose scrunched up when she thinks about all the different food is the cutest image ever.

My dick stirs in my boxers.

Fuck. It’s a total turn-on.

This woman just does it for me.

I grab my phone to read her message again and reply. I also let out a long breath over the fact that I don’t need to worry about Natasha seeing us out if we stay in again.

Ryan: Date at my house it is. And no, you’re not allowed to bring any food. I’ll take care of it. You just need to bring yourself.

Harper: I think I can manage that. What time should I be there?

Tomorrow is gym in the afternoon, and I still need time to actually prepare for the date. She said she’d only be in town for another few days, so this might be our last time before she leaves, and I want it to be special for Harper.

Ryan: Should we say seven?

Harper: That works.

Harper: Now go to sleep.

Ryan: Yes, ma’am.

Harper: Night, Ryan.

Ryan: Night, Harper.

I turn the brightness on my phone down and plug it into the charger. The moon bathes the room in soft light as I lie back and relax into the pillows.

I’m going to see Harper tomorrow, and somehow, I’m going to have to break the news about Natasha to her so she’s prepared. There isn’t much worse than being put into a situation like that unprepared, and I don’t want Harper to get blindsided by it.

My eyelids get heavy as my mind mulls over different ideas for our date tomorrow and what kind of work all of that would entail.

In spite of probably having a rocky road ahead of us with everything going on, I can’t help but feel like I’m over the initial shock now, ready to deal with whatever happens.

When I reach that half-asleep state, my thoughts shift. They shift to Harper’s beautiful face and her body I remember so well from our night together.

Does she have these kinds of thoughts about me?

Does she want a repeat of it as badly as I do?

Because I’m ready to show her tomorrow that I want her.
