I didn’t blame him for feeling the way he did. Alicen and Milo weren’t as bad as he was, but they were feeling the effects too. I was trying to be as understanding as possible, but it was beginning to be bothersome to have him always needing to know where I am and if I was alright. I hadn’t had the heart to tell him to back the fuck off yet.

That time was coming soon though. I could feel it.

“It wasn’t a party. They were attempting to wait me out in this weird version of interrogation that they have going on. I got hungry and thirsty while I waited for them to give up. Where’s Alicen and Milo?” If Jasper was here, they wouldn’t be far off. If I knew him, he wouldn't have had any better luck in telling Alicen no than I did when she’d pressured me into being friends.

“In the car. I tried to leave them at the apartment, but they wouldn’t have it. If I hadn’t brought them along, they would’ve followed me anyway. Alicen is not happy she didn’t know about this little meeting.”

Jasper reached over and laced his fingers with mine. He was ready to get out of this house, and to be honest so was I. I needed some time off from all this cloak and dagger shit. Heading back to school today put some serious strain on me, and then to have the boys need to have a meeting that was this unproductive and a complete waste of my time just made the day that much worse. I also knew that Angel and Dom would be expecting something from me soon. They had their own mafia boss to report to.

Getting into bed with Santiago had been a terrible idea, and every time I thought about it I wanted to beat the shit out of my uncle. I don’t know what he was thinking, but I had no escape plan for it, so the only thing I could do was go along with it for now.

“Well boys, thanks for the drinks and snacks, but we’re going to head out. I’m so ready for a bubble bath and a good raunchy book. I would say this had been fun, but that would be a lie.” I let Jasper lead me in the direction of the broken window, because Nico still had the doors on lock down, and I wasn’t in the mood to try and talk him into opening it up.

Strong warm hands clamped down on my shoulders and snatched me away from Jasper. A warm chest smacked into my back, and I could feel the gentle brush of breath along the column of my throat. The action pulled Jasper to a stop as he wasn’t letting go of my hand. Pure unadulterated violence flashed through his pale blue eyes as he looked at whoever was standing over my shoulder.

“Let her the fuck go,” Jasper’s voice was deep and filled with murder. There had only been a handful of times when I’d heard him sound like that. Today’s disappearing act had pushed him past his limits, and he was on the verge of killing them all.

“I just wanted to return her shoes and jacket. Plus let her know that we would see her bright and early in the morning. There won’t be a moment alone for you from now on. Not until we figure out what you’re after. Have a good bath,” Dante whispered the last part in my ear which was only going to make me think of him later as I soaked in the vanilla scented bubbles.

I think he did that shit on purpose. Dante wasn’t the Valentino boy that I would generally think of as being the flirt or playboy of the group, but something happened between us when I was strapped to that chair and he was cutting me up in that warehouse. I think he finally saw my darkness and it intrigued him.

I couldn’t help but like the thought of him wondering about me.
