“What was that, son?” His father was still watching.

“Just trying to give her a little piece of home and family. The next one will be trickier.”

His mother was amused. “What are you going to do?”

“Get an import visa for a desert kitten.” He smiled. “I think I can get Daycross to authorize it.”

His father grumbled. “Those things are vicious.”

He brought up the image of her with the kitten in her lap and smiled. “I think her having a pet will be a good thing. It will certainly make me feel better.”

His mother laughed. “Because it will keep all males away from her if it is a male itself.”

“What about you, son?”

“My scent will be on her, and he will get used to it.” He chuckled.

He got up and said, “If the seamstress shows up with more clothing, have her leave it in the outer room of my quarters.”

His mother frowned. “You aren’t giving her a nest?”

“Only if she shows the inclination to need one. If necessary, I will turn my quarters into her nest, but she will always be at my side or in my arms.” He sighed. “Unless that isn’t possible, and then, she has the cat.”

His father chuckled. “Unorthodox, but I am interested to see how it pans out. General Suutha finds the abandoned kittens. I will tell him to keep an eye out for a young male.”

Riithan nodded. “Thank you.”

He headed upstairs and passed Meriha as she came down with the empty tray. “Did she eat it all?”

His housekeeper grinned. “She did, sir.”

He sighed and nodded, heading back to his room. Their room. His parents were here, so he had some time to spend with his mate.

He entered his room and then headed into the bedroom. The flower of his life was staring at the open ocean. The black and gold of the royal family looked good on her. The heavy silk skimmed and clung to all the right places.

He walked up behind her and wrapped an arm around her supple waist. He stroked her hair to one side and kissed her neck. He rubbed her stomach and then below, imagining her curving with his child. The revved thrum coming from his chest betrayed his thoughts.

“Do you want children?”

She laughed. “My body does. It doesn’t give me a lot of options, but yes, I want children. One if it’s hard, and three to five if it’s easy.”

His hand clenched on her belly. “Five?”

“I always wanted a big family. Coming from my situation, I want to have a lot of kids running all over the place, laughing and screaming and pulling each other’s hair. There isn’t much dignity in a big family.”

He kissed her neck and inhaled her scent. “I think you will be an excellent Maha.”

She froze. “What did you say?”

“Maha. It is Sethir for Mother. Graha is Sethir for Father.”

“Those were my parents’ names.”

“Ask any children around the world what their parents’ names are, and they will answer mom and dad.”

She shook her head. “That’s not... no one ever said...”

“And a little lost child, who was thrown clear of the crash, found over a day later, wandering through the woods and wailing. Not a scratch on you.”
