Ray was posted outside the office door, and he moved back when we came into the hallway.

“Raymond, our guests will be staying with us for the night. Take them to Francis. They need rooms and to speak with him. At some point, we’ll also need dinner.” He didn’t say please or thank you, but walked past like the way he spoke was appropriate. And maybe it was, but I had guys who worked for me and I wouldn’t ever think to sound so coldly authoritative. I wouldn’t have people working for me very long if I behaved so badly.

But this guy just nodded like it was no big deal. “Yes, Sire.” Then he turned to us. “I don’t believe the palace has ever had this many Americans under our roof.” He said it with a smirk, like he was making fun of our nationality. “Let’s go find you somewhere to sleep your jetlag off.”

His gaze lingered on Erin a moment too long, and annoyance churned in my gut. I cleared my throat, focused on staying calm because she wasn’t mine to be jealous over. I’d just signed a paper to make sure of it, and this feeling was wrong. We followed Ray as Henryk disappeared in the other direction.

“Why’d you want him to come with us?” Silas asked quietly as Erin walked beside Ray.

I shrugged. “Not sure. I had a moment. It felt right.” The connection I’d felt to Fancy Pants wasn’t something Silas would get right away, and I wasn’t in the mood to explain. Hell, I wasn’t even sure I could.

Silas shot me a weird side-eye but didn’t say more. He knew me well. Knew I did strange things sometimes because my gut told me to.It didn’t often lead me astray, so he tended to give me a fair amount of latitude when it came to my gut feelings.

“I was wondering the same thing,” Erin said with a look at me over her shoulder. I liked the smile that came with it, so I was over the moon about both and I stumbled and almost fell. Silas grabbed my arm and kept me upright. I nodded my thanks as Erin continued, “If he doesn’t want to come with us, why make him?”

“Oh, he wants to,” I told her. “He’s just so twisted up inside, he couldn’t ask. And he sure as hell can’t imagine relaxing for a week, that’s for sure.”

Erin nodded, though she didn’t look convinced.

Silas let out a grunt, but his expression turned thoughtful.

We met Francis walking along the corridor toward us, and Ray spoke to him for a moment before he indicated we should follow him. “Come this way.”

We did and were shown to bedroom suites the size of apartments. “I’ll have all of your luggage brought up so you can settle in.”

“Sounds great. Thanks, man.” I went in to explore the room allocated to me. Erin said she was just up the hall, and Silas was in the suite next door.

Erin followed me into my room, looking around. “This is pretty much identical to mine. The bathroom’s huge, too. Go check it out.”

I did, and stood in the middle of the tiled expanse, gaping at all the space. “I’ve never seen anything this big.” And probably wouldn’t ever again.

Erin grinned at me, then moved back into my bedroom and sat on my bed. “So, tell me more about you and Silas, Viktor. Do you have girlfriends?”

I laughed and pulled off my shirt, loving the way her eyes ran over my body as I exposed more of my tattoos. Part of me had done that on purpose, to see if she’d choose to look or run away.

“Nah,” I said. “We’re both single but looking for the right girl.”

“Girl? Don’t you mean... girls?”

I raised a brow as I answered. “No. I meant girl. Singular.” I grinned widely at her, letting that sink in before heading over to the bathroom again. “I need a shower after that long-ass flight. Wanna join me?”

She giggled as she jumped up and hurried over to the door. “I think I’ll go call my parents, make sure they know I’m still alive.”

She lifted her hand and waved goodbye, and I was left with a body hot and thrumming with desire for the sexy-as-fuck woman I’d just divorced.
