Silas went on to add, “I didn’t mean to be funny and I don’t think Vik meant to either.”

“Nope. Not funny at all.” Viktor shot a glare at Henryk too.

“It wasn’t an insult. They just have a lot of back and forth and you two reminded me of them.” Henryk typed on his computer and pulled up a picture of two guys—one big with a Hitler mustache and the other skinny with a giant forehead. Both had funny hats and bowties. Not really mirror images of Viktor and Silas.

This conversation had passed awkward and was now heading somewhere bad. Henryk was ruining this vacation before it had even started, so I tried to placate everyone.

“Guys... I’m certain he didn’t mean... that.” I pointed at the small screen across the aisle.

“Of course, I meant it.” Henryk’s brow pinched as though he didn’t understand he was being rude.

I only got to stare in disbelief at him for a second before Viktor nudged me.

“What is with this guy? Showing off his money and rubbing our noses in it. Then calling us low-class and comparing us to badly dressed comedians.” Viktor looked at me. “Is that how you see us?”

“No, not at all,” I reassured him.

But it was obvious no one was listening to me. They were one word from chest thumping while they grunted.

I tried again. “Come on, guys. I’m sure Henryk didn’t mean anything by it.” I glanced at him and if he didn’t change expressions soon, he was going to be stuck with a permanent scowl. “Right, Henryk?”

“I didn’t mean anything and I’m not rubbing anyone’s nose in anything.” He rolled his eyes as thought to prove a point.

I could’ve told him that eyerolling wasn’t the kind of move to indicate sincerity, but he didn’t ask and I wasn’t interjecting just now. I wanted to see the guys work it out by themselves. Plus, if things got physical, Ray was there to break it up.

“I’m rich. I can’t help that.” Henryk shrugged. “I’m sharing with you. What more do you want from me?”

He was incredible and beautifully so, but again, I’d yet to find anything he didn’t do like a GQ model.

Viktor wasn’t about to be put off by the fact that Henryk looked the way he did. Anger flashed in his eyes, and his jaw was tightening and flexing like it was doing reps. Obviously, big blue eyes didn’t matter to him.

I sighed. We were still barreling toward an ugly confrontation. I only hoped Ray had a plan, because if someone got thrown out the emergency door of the plane, it was really going to put a damper on the rest of our vacation.

“Laurel and Hardy were a comedy team from the silent film era. They were Americans and quite famous. Paved the way for Abbott and Costello.” Henryk was losing his audience, quick. “Who’s on first?”

“Better check him, Erin. I think he’s having a stroke. He’s muttering random words now.” Silas was getting in on the “Hate Henryk” act now.

I groaned and put my head back into the pillow behind me. “Maybe we should all rest. I’ve heard that you need a lot of rest to do Spain the right way.”

Oh, God. If this was the best I could do, we weren’t going to make it through a whole week.

“Yeah. Maybe.” Henryk twisted the laptop toward him and typed, slapped the enter button and shot a glare at Viktor while he waited for his page to load.

Silas crossed his arms and looked out the window to his left. Viktor huffed next to me and shot withering glances that had absolutely no effect on Henryk.

Now I know why assigned seats are a good idea.
