I put the sweater to my face for a moment, before pulling it on. Another piece that fit perfectly over my big boobs.

Awesome.

“I don’t get why he’s doing this,” Bree mused, standing outside the changing room door. “Why not just leave it?”

I grinned as I pulled a sweater up over my head and threw it onto themaybepile. “He’s getting married!”

And our daisy chain child wedding somehow stood in the way of his adult, legal wedding.

“Married?”

I actually laughed this time. “The way he said it, I don’t think he even knows who his bride is. He said it’s some sort of arranged marriage.”

Another concept that was incredibly foreign to me. Marry someone I’d never met? Someone my parents had chosen for me? I could picture the pocket protectors and wire rimmed glasses. The family car and Sunday night bowling league. Uh... no, thank you.

I reached for a black sweater and tried it on. It was too tight at my hips and the arms were too long as well.

“Arranged marriage? Do people still do those?” Bree called through the door.

I shrugged.Nope, definitely don’t like the black. Now for the turquoise one...“In some parts of the world, I guess. But honestly, I have no idea. It sounds totally medieval, doesn’t it!”

Bree chuckled on the other side of the door. “Medieval is right! Have you even googled Liechtenstein? It’s full of castles and all things ancient.”

I opened the door, bringing with me the clothes I had decided to buy. “Yeah, I did, but I won’t be staying there long. Henryk said they’ll set me up with some travel plans after that. I thought I’d go to France or Spain or somewhere more touristy.”

I hadn’t been on a vacation in years, and certainly I’d never been to Europe. The small number of times I took off work were used to catch up with friends, renovate my old apartment, or visit my parents in Miami.

“It’s still shoutingscam, Erin. You know that, right?”

I sighed and worked my way around the racks of clothes to the counter. Then I put the items down for the girl to ring up. “There’s only one way he knew about that park, Bree, and what happened that day. And that was because he was there.”

The details were too perfect. Who else would have known what I did as a child on vacation twenty years ago? With that fact paired with the first-class plane ticket, I was starting to believe in miracles.

Bree grinned at me, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “How come you never told me that story?”

“I was seven. I haven’t thought about it in years.” I paid for the clothes and took my bags off the counter. “Thanks.”

“Lunch?” Bree pointed toward the street where a plethora of cafes and restaurants sat.

I nodded. “Yeah. I’m starving.”

We made our way to the closest cafe, ordered some lunch, then Bree turned to me again. “Tell me the story. How on earth did you marry three boys in a park in one day?”

I covered my face with my hands. “It wasn’t just in one day, it was all at once.”

“Fine.” I lowered my hands again and picked up my glass of water, taking a sip while I gathered my thoughts. “My parents took me to Washington DC to see the White House and all that stuff one summer.”

“Yeah?” Her mouth lifted into a grin and her eyes lit up.

“And while we were there, I played in this park near our hotel. Every day, these same two little boys, Silas and Viktor, played there too. They were so cute and nice.” I smiled at the memory. Unlike other boys I’d met, they didn’t try to knock me over or say I had girl germs.

“Then how did Henry come into it?” She was so interested in this whole story. But life in general interested Bree. She loved new experiences, whether they were hers or mine.

“Henryk,” I corrected, taking my iced coffee from the waiter.

Bree narrowed her eyes, fake angry. “Fine. How didHenrykcome into all of that?”

I took a sip of my drink and licked the cream off a corner of my lip. My mind pulled up an old memory of the quiet little boy with big, blue eyes. He’d been so gorgeous, even to my seven-year-old self.
