Holy shit. This thing was amazing. Leather seats. Sunroof. A mini fridge with soda and bottled water.

Ray climbed in the front with the driver and shut his door.

“Um... you’re seriously gonna leave me back here, like you’re driving Miss Daisy or something?” I had no idea if he understood the reference, but Jessica Tandy was an international treasure in my book, so if he didn’t know, I would introduce him.

He turned and looked over the seats separating us. “It’s proper. Now, we’re to meet His... Henryk...” He stumbled when he referred to Henry. Strange.

I frowned. I knew Henryk was rich, but his? His what? His Royal Highness? His Honor? Another plot twist in the Mystery of Lichtenstein and the wild Wedding of four seven-year-olds.

I opened my mouth to ask what theHisreferenced, but Ray spoke over the top of the silence. “At his city apartment. It’s only ten minutes’ drive, so please, enjoy the views, and we’ll be there shortly.”

Ray slid a glass panel up behind him, effectively shutting off communication between us, then he turned so I couldn’t even wave at him to ask any more questions.

I glared at the back of his head and by the set of his shoulders, I was pretty sure he could tell. But I didn’t have much of a choice, so I pulled out my cell phone and shot off some text messages to my parents and Bree.

Hi, everyone. I’m here and in one piece. Flight was great. Chat soon.

Mom sent back a message.Have fun.Love you.

Bree was a bit more erratic.OMG! You’re still alive! It is you, right?

I giggled.Yeah, it’s me.

Prove it.

“Oh my God.” I laughed at her. I could’ve sent a photo, but she would think it was under duress.

When I divorce all three of my husbands, I’ll send you another text.

That was enough for now.

LOL. And pics! I want LOTS of pics.

Of course, she did, and of course I would send them.Deal.

I exhaled slowly and the tightness in my chest eased as I stared out the window. “Wow.” Lush, green landscape blew past us. We were still in the city but there were beautiful old buildings everywhere.

I shivered and ran my hands over my arms. There were touches of snow on the tallest buildings and decorating some of the window trims. I needed to put on more clothes when we got out of the car. I was dressed for the excessively warm, almost spring, in South Carolina that had been when I left.

When the vehicle pulled up in front of a large, modern building, I was almost disappointed. Now we just looked like we were in New York or somewhere almost familiar. I wished he would’ve been staying at one of those period places. I would’ve loved to explore a castle.

Maybe Ray could point me in the direction of the nearest one, and I could check it out before I headed to Spain.

The door opened and there was Ray, grinning down at me. “Do you have something warmer to wear?”

I nodded. “Yeah, I do. Let me just grab it out of my suitcase.”

When I climbed out, Ray shut the door behind me. “You don’t need it now. We’ll go straight into the hotel, but I was just inquiring, if you’re staying in Liechtenstein.”

I shivered, grabbed my satchel, and hurried for the glass double doors at the entrance to the hotel. “I’m not staying. I’m heading to Spain as soon as possible.”

To the sun, the cocktails, and the beaches.

I burst through the doors and a burst of warmth caressed my skin. Shivering again, I sighed at the same time. “God, that’s better.”

Ray came in behind me and instantly he stiffened. He straightened his jacket and stood taller.

I pressed my lips together. It wouldn’t do to alienate the one person I knew in this country. “Everything okay, Ray?”
