Draven walked around the island to join his father. Samson stood a few inches shorter than him, but standing next to him, Draven would always feel like a child. It may not be that way with all fathers and sons, but for Draven, Samson was more than a man. He was his hero. His savior. The man who took him in when he didn’t have to. Who gave him his wolf and made him more than just a monster.

His father wrapped an arm around him and pulled Draven into a hug. “Don’t worry son. Everything is going to work out as it should. Trust the Goddess.”

Draven opened his mouth to tell him he wasn’t sure that this wasn’t the Goddess’s way of eliminating a hybrid like him from her pack heirs, but quickly closed his mouth, thinking better of it. The Goddess had blessed his father and if there was one thing Samson didn’t tolerate, it was taking the Goddess’s name in vain.

His wolf nuzzled in his chest, relishing in the proximity to its Alpha and father. Draven pulled himself from his father’s arms and took a step back. “My wolf is in my chest. Pacing. Growling.”

“But the moon…”

“I know. It doesn’t make sense. It showed up the moment she did.”

His father’s eyes widened and he froze. “By the Goddess. That’s why she’s here.” The older Alpha sank onto the stool he just vacated. “I don’t want to tempt fate, but you must listen to your wolf. The Goddess has a plan for you.”

“Fate won’t help us,” Draven scoffed.

“I think it already has.” His father stood up and headed for the door. “Go gather your things, and make sure you take care of that girl. I get the feeling she is going to be more important than we know.”

“Callum said the same thing.”

“For once, I agree with your brother.”

That didn’t bode well for anyone.
