VERA

Istared at the ceiling, unable to sleep as my mind supplied memories of George, my adoptive father, his bourbon-soaked breath, and his threats. The threats were always the worst. I didn’t care what he did to me, but the thought that if I didn’t go along with it, he’d go for my sisters…

Giving up on sleep, I got up and went downstairs to the kitchen to find a snack. Sean was sitting at the table, eating microwaved pizza. His bare chest glistened with sweat.

I poured myself a glass of milk and sat down across from him. "You're up early."

"Couldn't sleep." He took a bite of pizza and chewed for a moment. "You?"

I shook my head. "Same."

"I keep thinking about Glen's concussion. Dad called me while we were camping, and he wanted to know if Glen's memory was okay," Sean said.

I frowned, not liking the sound of it. An abusive parent, not wanting his child to remember something was never good news. "Why would he want to know that?"

"He didn't say.” Sean finished the last bite of his pizza, then gave me a sad smile. “What’s keeping you up at night?”

“Nothing special,” I lied. “Just the usual insomnia.”

“You didn’t have it while we were camping,” he said.

“Fresh air is good for sleep.” That and there were fewer predators in the wild. “You showing me those self-defense moves helped, too.”

Sean moved his chair closer to me. “I don’t want to give you a false sense of security because a few hours of practice won’t be enough in a real situation. We’ll practice some more, right?”

“You’re just saying it because you want to roll around with me and get another kiss,” I joked.

“I definitely wouldn’t mind that.” He brushed a finger over my cheek, forcing me to look at him. “I’ve been thinking about that kiss for days.”

He leaned in and kissed me, gentle at first but growing more passionate by the second. I kissed him back, wrapping my arms around his neck as he scooped me up onto his lap, and I felt his erection growing against my thigh.

I broke the kiss. "This isn't supposed to be a real relationship."

"I remember." He kissed the corner of my mouth.

I straddled him, letting his hands glide up my back to my neck, bringing me deeper into our kiss. I tried to think of a reason we shouldn't do this, but reason had left me a long time ago.

He let out a low groan and wrapped his arms around me, protective, possessive. As my dark memories turned into a distant echo, I let out a soft sigh.

Finally, I pulled my head back, gasping for air. He stared at me, a deep hunger in his eyes, his fingers running through my hair and down my neck, sending shivers down my spine. I traced my fingers along his thick, muscular arms and then up to his face.

He shuddered under my touch and leaned in for another kiss. As I ran my fingers over the hard muscles of his abs and chest, our tongues met again. His hard cock pressed against me through our clothes, rubbing against my most sensitive parts.

With a groan, he grabbed my hips and stood up. I wrapped my legs and arms around him, wishing he'd warned me, but of course, he wanted to show off how strong he was.

"Sean, put me down," I said. "Please."

He did, but he kept his arm wrapped tightly around my waist as we walked to his bedroom. Something must've slipped past my mask because Sean frowned and asked, "Everything okay?"

"Yes," I answered. "Fuck me like you hate me?"

I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him again. No point stopping now unless I started freaking out for no reason.

He pushed me down on the bed, then gripped the waist of my flimsy sleeping shorts and ripped them off.

"First, I want to taste you." He spread my knees open with his hands and ran his teeth over my inner thighs. The rough pads of his fingers found my swollen nub, then his tongue glided over my clit. I gasped and grabbed fistfuls of his hair, throwing my head back as pleasure shot through me. I was wet and ready, but he took his time teasing me until I was moaning and panting with need.

Finally, he slid two fingers inside me, his tongue toying with me, giving me just enough to see the precipice but not enough to get there.
