Though he claimed to be house sitting, the home lacked anything personal. It had a sterile atmosphere. Basic furniture. No photographs. No mementos. Had he rented a place on the beach for a day? Did he want to impress her? He did. But he impressed her with the attention he gave her.
“What is your dream travel destination? We’re both well-traveled, but I still have many places I plan to see. What about you?” he asked as he stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist.
“I haven’t been to Greece. And I loved Greek Mythology. Of course, I don’t remember most of it now, but I still want to stand at the Parthenon.”
“It’s New Zealand for me. And no, I’m not a huge Lord of the Rings fan, but from what I’ve read and heard and seen, pictures about the country and the people… appeals to me.” He combed his wet hair and caught her eyes in the mirror. “I’ve had such a great day with you.”
She swore her heart fluttered. “I’ve had a great day with you.” She smiled at him. Being with him felt natural. They could talk about anything. Or they could sit in comfortable silence.
After they dressed, they walked hand in hand to the living area. She planned to sit on the couch and put her shoes on, but he stopped them at the kitchen island and picked up his phone. Within seconds, music started playing. Taking her wrist, he twirled her around and started dancing with her to “The Year of the Cat by Al Stewart”. He guided her around the kitchen nuzzling the side of her head and her neck. “The Flame by Cheap Trick”played next. Both songs she had forgotten about and hadn’t heard in decades.
Probably smart that he livened it up with “I’ve Done Everything for You by Rick Springfield”. She could easily lose herself in his touch—again. She had more sex in the last twenty-four hours than she had in a decade. She certainly would feel the soreness soon enough after not engaging in it for so long.
He held her as if she were a cherished possession. He guided her around the kitchen and swirled her as if she were the most beautiful thing on the planet.
