It might’ve sounded like I was repeating what he’d said because I was confused. But I was actually repeating it because I wasannoyed, my sister only making my irritation grow more intense when she translated, “As in, showing affection for someone perceived to be sexually active with a lot of people.”
“I know what he meant,” I groaned. “But why is this nigga so comfortable speaking on me and mine like this?”
“I don’t know,” she answered with a shrug. “Probably because no one has tried to shut his ass up yet.”
Anastasia was right.
People like Enzo didn’t just go away out of the kindness of their heart.

And even though I wasn’t usually the type to engage in internet shit,especiallymessy internet shit, this seemed like one of those times worth giving myself a pass as I handed Anastasia her phone and then grabbed my own so that I could respond to what Enzo had said. Not with a comment, but with a picture of him getting mossed by Hunter earlier this season posted to my story along with the caption,“Eyes on your own paper, bruh. @EnzoTheGod”
Because her phone was still glued to her hand, Anastasia was one of the first to see what I’d shared, laughing as she said, “Tagged his ass and everything. I know that’s right, bro.”
“Had to make sure he got the memo,” I responded as I watched my inbox begin to flood with story replies.

Since Shakira was the one actually involved in all of this, I made it a priority to respond to her first.

But I’d gone low with intention, trying my best to explain to Shakira why it had to be handled this way when I replied,“Sometimes you gotta deal with niggas in the language they understand best.”

Judging by her tone,and all those damn exclamation points, I could tell she was really bothered by this.
Or rather, more bothered by me responding to Enzo than she was about what Enzo had said in the first place.
And if she wasn’t letting that shit get to her, then I suppose I shouldn’t have been either, that realization leading me to delete the story post that I was sure had already been screenshotted before I went back to my inbox and responded,“Fine, Shakira. I deleted it. But if that nigga keeps talkin’, then it’s up.”
It might’ve sounded like I was just trying to be on some tough guy shit, but I’d meant what I’d said wholeheartedly.
If Enzo wanted to play stupid games, he could mostdefinitelywin some stupid prizes in the form of these hands. And if Shakira wanted to be mad at me for that, then,shit… it was what it was.
