“Wow. I’ve never been more proud to call you my brother lol.” - Anastasia

“Please tell me that was not about your girlfriend…” - Kimberly

“Will we still be able to see you after the game, Pup? Or did they kick you out of the stadium too?” - Mama

“*weary face emoji* Call me as soon as you can!” - Shakira

After responding where I saw fit, I ducked off to a quieter area so that I could Facetime my woman. And the video call had just barely started to connect when she picked up wearing the most concerned look on her face, the sight of her pretty ass making it hard for me not to grin a little once she said, “Kendall.Oh my God. Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m straight,” I answered as I casually ran a hand over the top of my brush cut, the gesture for whatever reason making Shakira smirk when she followed up, “Care to tell me what the hell happened out there?”

After dealing with all of the media members who’d asked a different version of that same question, I honestly wasn’t in the mood to give a full play-by-play. So instead, I kept it brief, telling Shakira, “Your boy called himself running his mouth about some shit he had no business saying, and I had to handle it.”

“Not my boy. But what kinda shit?” she questioned with a frown. “Was it something about us?”

Shaking my head, I answered, “Nah, it was about Big Snoop.”

That was all Shakira needed to hear to be just as upset as I had been, scowling hard when she asked, “As in, your deceased father?” And once I nodded to confirm, she groaned, “Oh, that nigga isbigtrash for that.”

“Yeah, tell me somethin’ I don’t know,” I replied with a humorless chuckle that brought Shakira’s worried look back, making it less of a surprise when she repeated her question from earlier.

“Are you really okay, though, Snoopy?”

“I’m as good as I can be,” I admitted with a sigh. “I mean, physically, I’m fine. But I still gotta wait and see what happens with everything else.”

“Everything else meaning…?”

Off the top of my head, I was able to list, “Suspension, fines, PR shit.” But I knew there was probably even more to it, the overwhelmingness of it all making it feel like a relief when I added, “Bryn said she’s on it, though.”

“Thank God,” Shakira replied in a low tone before perking up to ask, “Well is there anything I can do?”

“Yeah, go back in time and not fuck with that bitch ass nigga.”

I was really only messing with her since it wasn’t like she could’ve predicted any of this. But I could tell she really meant it when she responded, “I promise you I would if I could,” the long, contemplative look on her face that followed making me ask, “What is it, Shake?”

“I don’t know,” she whined. “I guess I just feel bad.”

“Feel bad about what?” I asked, genuinely confused until she explained, “Even if it wasn’t the exact cause of what happened today, you and I both know the only reason Enzo is coming for you like this is because of me.”

While it might’ve been true that Enzo’s beef with me was because of Shakira, I knew it wasn’t fair at all to say she was somehow responsible for his actions. And I was sure to make that clear when I told her, “That nigga being a low life is not your fault, Shakira.”

“I mean, I know,but…”

“Nah, no buts,” I interrupted. “What Enzo said about my pops ain’t have shit to do with you. He made it personal and got dealt with in the same way I’d handle any nigga who called himself putting his hands on me and disrespecting my family.”

“Yeah, that push in the back wassuperuncalled for,” Shakira acknowledged, the memory of what had led up to that moment making me shake my head with a huff of a chuckle when I groaned, “Nigga was just mad cause I bullied his little ass.”

Honestly, I was looking forward to watching that part back on film and then putting it on loop for my own personal enjoyment. But Shakira apparently had other sources of personal enjoyment on her mind when she smirked and proposed, “Do me next?”

Once I smirked back, she was quick to add, “I mean, maybe notthatrough since that shit looked like it came from a dark place. But a sexy little toss onto the mattress could be a vibe.”

I was nodding in agreement when I was hit with a flashback of Enzo’s comment about Shakira liking it rough; the one-liner making me mad all over again, especially since that was part of the reason why I’d tossed his ass in the first place.

But that wasn’t for Shakira to even know about nor have to handle.

That was on Enzo and me to deal with man-to-man.

And while it might’ve felt good to have gotten a punch off, something told me that the shit between us was far from over.
