“Jesus, Jess,” Tony said, his voice thick, telling her he was on the verge of falling asleep. “Love you, angel. Love you so fucking much.”

She smiled and offered him the words back. They came easy, and it felt good to be able to speak them without fear of rejection.

His response was the deep, even breathing of sleep.

Rhys squeezed her hand. “You okay?”

Her heart skipped a beat at his concerned question, his need to take care of her.

“I am,” she whispered. “Very okay.”

Rhys lifted their clasped hands and placed a kiss on hers. “You make me happy, Jess. So happy.”

She nodded, blinking several times to beat back the tears.

Their hands dropped back to the bed, and soon Rhys followed Tony, sleeping peacefully next to her.

Jess had never truly belonged anywhere. Not until this moment.

For so long, she’d sought her place in the world, certain she would never find it.

And now she was here.

Home.

She’d found it at last.
