Harry looked twice. He recognised the security gate with the vehicle X-ray machine. “Is that Parrish at the oil and gas fields in Algeria?”

Yunho nodded. “Three years ago.”

Lucas tapped on that image and it opened a sequence of more. “And there he is with Professor Taleb. Who, two and a half years later, he would have killed.”

Harry had no idea that Parrish had met with him in Algeria. At the gas fields where all those ex-army Australians were now employed. Parrish had constructed the whole setup.

That lying piece of shit.

“A lot of his information has been deleted, scrubbed. I can’t access it,” Yunho said. “So I’m hoping that USB the professor’s wife gave you will have tangible proof. The final nail in his coffin, if you will.”

Harry hoped the USB was worth it too.

Then there was a photograph of Parrish with Traeger Mayer, dated around five years ago. Phone calls, emails, deals, energy contracts, money... and the assignment to have him terminated.

Harry took a deep breath and tried to calm down. “I’m beginning to lean toward my idea of ripping Parrish’s spine out. While he’s still alive.”

Yunho stood with his hands clasped behind his back, staring at the screens on the wall. “It gets worse. Parrish’s interests in the energy sector began about eight years ago. He clearly saw a profitable market and began with shares, dividends. Not just with stocks but with favours for the high rollers for a piece of their pie. He started a company called Solaris. Bought his way into the game by having threats removed. The oil and gas tycoons never got their hands dirty and paid him accordingly.”

Jesus.

“Then he got greedy. And stupid,” Yunho continued. “He bought into the big time, using his company and connections in Algeria and Saudi Arabia. Solaris became the middleman, actually could have been a legitimate business, well, except for the blood in the sand. But he began skimming and funnelling, just a fraction of a percent here, another fraction there, moving funds through cryptocurrency. Thought he was hiding it. He thought he was clever.”

“He was skimming,” Harry asked incredulously. “From oil tycoons?” Harry didn’t dare guess what a fraction of a percent was when they were talking billions.

“Like I said, he got stupid.” Yunho glanced at Harry. “And there are a few Australian politicians lined up behind him, it would seem. The ripples in the pond go deep.”

Lucas pressed some more buttons and the screens changed again. Familiar faces, famous political faces. Harry couldn’t believe it... yet at the same time, he wasn’t surprised.

He wanted them all to pay. He’d see them all taken down, even if it killed him.

Yunho smiled. “I have a plan for Mr Parrish and his political friends I think you might like. When Asher wakes up, and if he’s feeling up for it, we can discuss our best course of action.”

* * *

Harry openedthe door to their quarters and Asher opened his eyes. He smiled as soon as he saw Harry, and it made Harry’s heart skip a beat. “Hey,” he said gently. “How are you feeling?”

Asher sighed out a moan. “Good.”

Harry climbed up the mattress from the foot of the bed and flopped down next to Asher. “This house is insane.”

Asher smiled. “Did you see the room downstairs?”

“Yep. With all the screens. I met Lucas and Aranya.”

“Lucas is a great man,” Asher said. “He and Yunho are lovers, if you didn’t know.”

Harry stopped. He had no idea. “Really?”

“About eight years now,” Asher added. “They met when this house was built. Lucas was the project manager and they clicked from day one. Lucas understands Yunho and his agoraphobia. And he’s been helping him run his operation since then.”

Harry liked hearing this. Not just that Yunho was in a committed relationship with someone else... but yes, that Yunho was in a committed relationship with someone else. “Yunho seems like a nice guy.”

Asher studied Harry’s face, smiling serenely. “He’s the best.”

“I thought I was the best.”

Asher chuckled. “Did I ever say that about you?”
