CHAPTERTHIRTEEN

Courtney

“You can back out at any time you like,” I told Dominic for at least the tenth time, having just pulled up out the front of my parents’ house for family dinner night.

“Woman, you ain’t gettin’ out of this. I’m lookin’ forward to a home-cooked dinner.”

I shot him a glare. “And what do you call all those dishes I made at your place, huh?”

Ever since the night Dom took me out to dinner for his alibi, we’d been inseparable. Usually, I would either get on a guy’s nerves after twenty-four hours, or he would be on mine, and I’d need a break, but with Dominic, it was the opposite. Honestly, the way my feelings had grown for him in a week was new and exciting and scary all at the same time. Dominic and I had only spent one night apart from each other in the last week, and in that night alone, I didn’t think I could miss a guy as much as I did him, yet it happened.

It was an extra hit to my emotions that he’d hadn’t liked being apart either. He’d called me the next morning and told me to get my ass back to his place.

It would have been smarter to refuse since I was still a little worried it was happening too fast, but I hadn’t. Couldn’t.

I liked falling asleep beside him.

I liked waking up with him.

I liked how he got my coffee ready while I showered for work.

He enjoyed my company as much as I did his.

Bad days were bound to happen between us. Neither of us was perfect. We’d annoy each other eventually, probably argue, but I already believed we could work through whatever it was because we’d wanted the same outcome: a strong relationship.

Dominic grinned and cupped the back of my head, pulling me close. “A meal frommywoman, which I fuckin’ loved.” He kissed me, and I was sure it was to shut me up. Not that I minded. “But you gotta know a mom’s cookin’ is always different.”

Sighing, I had to agree. “Yes, that’s true.” I nodded. “Okay, let’s do this.”

“Babe,” he called.

I turned to him before I got out. “Yes?”

“No matter what goes on, you gotta know you’re stuck with me. You know I like what we’ve got goin’ on, little mouse.”

My body warmed. “I do, and I like it too, Dom.”

He grunted. “Good.”

When we met at the front of the car, he took my hand in his. I never thought he’d be a hand-holding type, but he always reached for mine when we were walking down the street or even sitting on the couch watching something.

I enjoyed how affectionate he was. Actually, I enjoyed a lot of things about him, but especially how the sex was out-of-this-world good.

At the door, Dom asked, “What’re you thinkin’ about?”

I turned into him, putting my arms around his waist. “Just how good you are in bed.”

A throat cleared.

I hadn’t even heard the door open.

Usually, no one waited and I just walked in.

But now, my three brothers stood in the doorway.

Casper screwed up his face. “I didn’t need to know that.”

Carter fake dry-retched, and Calvin closed the door in our faces.
